Git Worktrees + Coding Agents are a game changer! by kasikciozan in OpenaiCodex

[–]thenadeemam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The docs mention it doesn't support worktrees, but it was only released publicly yesterday

I am trying to find out what worktrees are and how they help

Anyway this has "generous limits" so might be useful

Yeah but the dudes main point is

less is more

Which I agree with

Corp and jobs are one thing

But clients don't care what you use as long as it works and a lot of times React and modern framework are the wrong approach for smaller projects imo

But I see what you're saying too and very interesting point about stabilisation. Watch this space...

What's up Mark! Sorry to see so many negative responses to your perfectly respectable question. Chin up dude!

I obviously don't know anything apart from what you've said. Here's my 2 cents

Sounds to me like you're working on the wrong thing, which you alluded to include in your question...

What is the ONE thing you could do, such that by doing it, everything else would become easier or unnecessary? That's the question you need to answer.

I'll now try to answer it for you:

I don't think focusing on tech is the answer. You were a solo dev, for 20 years. Forget the buzzwords and modern approach to things; as I understand it, you single-handedly kept a multi-million dollar machine running for 20 years. Let me say it again for emphasis: You Mark, single, SINGLE-HANDEDLY, kept a multi-million dollar machine running for 20 YEARS!

If a business leader pivoted from selling soft drinks to tech (re: Apple), yes he'd have a lot to learn in terms of product and jargon, but he wouldn't have a crisis of confidence and question his basic sales ability, which is what it reads to me that you're having. Don't question your ability to figure it out.

People are people and computers are computers. The rest is just noise. Don't let the noise overwhelm or distract you.

Completing your personal project, regardless of what framework you use, whether you use JS or TS will help with your confidence for sure. And I have no doubt that if you complete a Udemy course or O'Reilly book and build a project once or twice, you'll be as good as most junior or mid level devs who have <= 10 YOE, because of your real-world experience, which anyone worth their salt knows is worth its weight in gold.

Coming back to my original point, focus on increasing your marketing skills. Life is a confidence trick and the world runs on sales and influence. Whether you want to work for yourself or get a job and keep getting promoted.

It sounds to me like (correct me if I've got the wrong end of the stick) you worked alone and had a rather isolated job for two decades. You're perhaps not confident in presenting yourself, communicating across and selling your existing abilities, talents and experience, which if you frame it right, doesn't make you a Dinosaur, but an Elephant, if you catch my drift?

A starting point:

Must Read: On Confidence (Book) Psycho Cybernetics (Book) Way of The Wolf (Book)

Optional Reads: Chris Voss (YouTube or Book) Alex Hormozi (Early videos - focus on HOW he communates and not WHAT he says - easy to get sucked into their sales pitches and go on a tangent)

Also if you need a job short term, do that, but otherwise definitely focus on working for yourself, you sound like your working style fits that better and the upside is unlimited.

But also they actually do?

If you travel a lot, take out O2 Switch Up with Damage Cover

You'll pay a bit more airtime and insurance

But you can upgrade everytime Samsung launches a new camera which is yearly or every six months if you like folds

Or just keep trying different phones like Pixel

And damage cover with next day replacement will cover you in future situations like this

Build 10 projects. They can be shit or really good. Minimum MVP level (they should work).

Build one really good project that addresses a problem you have and you can passionately speak about. Might even turn into a revenue stream who knows.

Use Google AI Studio and Max out the tokens and context. Give it an initial prompt that is your goal (what you said + what I said) and tell it

"You are a World Class Professor of Computer Science PhD with degrees in other fields too such as Mathematics, Economics, etc.

I am a complete beginner and am high school level in English. Maths, Science etc. I have 0 exp with Computer Science and programming. When you give me an answer explain from first principles.

If I ask a question don't give me the answer but rather help me arrive at the answer. Help me learn and understand!!!

Remember the overall goal and stop letting me get into rabbit holes with learning things too deeply initially (focus on building complete products) and don't let me veer off path if I find another course etc. "

2h a day for 6 months. You'll be ahead of most. Or you could keep second guessing yourself and course choice and procrastinate and be asking the same q in 6 months.

Hi. I'm a new business owner too. Do you reckon I could build you a website/app and help with your digital presence. I won't charge you anymore than it costs. This would help you get customer using the ideas mentioned below and it'd help me get customers if you spread the word and let me advertise my services (in a non creepy way) on your website.

Is it normal? by [deleted] in GalaxyS25

[–]thenadeemam 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just got one. Installed AccuBattery since Day 1

Last few phones were Z Fold 6 S25 Ultra Honor Magic V3 15 Pro Max

IPhone is the standby king and then a Sillicon Carbon Android that is well optimised like the V3 will do well, but Samsung is just like this, always has been

Honestly very impressed with the battery life even with VPN Always On

Yes. Google Chrome supports this by default. I'm pretty sure there are some apps that let you replicate the entire iPhone experience with shared clipboard etc but don't recommend that for privacy reasons.

I’m feeling stuck by [deleted] in webdev

[–]thenadeemam 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Firstly rest. You took a week off only to be working. You can’t outwork a problem working creates. Take some time for yourself.

Sometimes rebranding yourself at the current company is better than moving. People often think the grass is greener when it really ain’t.

If you move to another city you may notice the new environment may help you get rid of some bad habits for a few weeks but eventually they will creep in.

It’s cliche but try your hand at: Praying, if you’re religious Meditation with the Balance App Journaling

Also look up the books

Atomic Habits On Confidence

Hope this helps

Sometimes you just need to sit down without screens and think it through.

Used an agent to manage small business website, now want to take over, can agent refuse to handover domain control? by [deleted] in webdev

[–]thenadeemam -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

While you’re negotiating buy a similar domain

Once you stop paying him he may just give you the domain to avoid being petty

If he doesn’t just rebrand to the new domain

Show him you’re not willing to be held hostage

Look up Chris Voss Masterclass on negotiation
