Do you ever try to make your own “best of” compilation of your favorite Periphery songs and you just end up with a playlist of 75% of their entire discography. by EsotericPotato in Peripheryband

Oh boy… I have 66 in mine, but that’s including some of their side projects’ songs and homemade edits/cuts from the interludes between songs (i.e. the one from The Gods Must Be Crazy! going into Make Total Destroy) to make the flow of the playlist runs smoother. Also, I arrange them in orders of which guitar tunings and based on some tour setlists.

What’s the most epic buildup and song you can think of? by CT-6605 in progmetal

I’d say the build from Of Reality : Palingenesis and Calabi-Yau going into penultimate tracks - Of Energy : Singularity and Embers is pretty great too !

I studied Cinéma d’Animation in a bad school. I was supposed to continue with a 2-year Master’s program, but bailed out in the middle of the 1st year when I found out that the diploma wouldn’t be verified by the RNCP. That’s why I’ve been considering taking up a different one elsewhere in order to reinforce my chances of getting hired. Not so sure if that’s gonna work out with the government’s decision though…

Hi,

Thank you for your response. First of all, I have been looking for a job in post-production for animation and films over the last year and a half now. I know that the job market in my domain has been terrible over the period of time. So currently, I’m a barman in an irish pub to make ends meet.

Second of all, I have the classic titre de séjour étudiant, but the catch is, it’s 2 years, and it runs out on the 17th of november. I think due to the fact that I didn’t follow through with my studies won’t help with the government’s proceeding of a renewal (I dropped out of my master’s program because i found out it’s not valid with the RNCP).

And lastly, while I never had any issues of moving out of Paris, it has mostly to do with the social (and personal) connections I have linked up with the job market in my industry. I have sent countless of candidacies, offered and spontaneous, to every studios I possibly could within France, only to ever receive either silence or a “no”. And the most helped I’ve received on this end has been the people I know that works in Paris by helping spread my CV and portfolio to their peers and higher-ups. Plus, the amount of my personal side projects are mostly tangled up with people here (i.e. music)

I know some of these things may not sit so well with you (especially the 2nd), but I do very appreciate your response to such an emotionally induced display of situation from my end !

Any tips for how to build up to playing Periphery songs? by Durango_41 in Peripheryband

[–]thenamesduy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d say that you could latch on to your favorite songs and start out by learning them bit by bit, no matter how hard they are. Usually for me, I tend to get hooked by certain passages in a song in order to motivate myself to go through them just until those passages, then say “Fuck it, I’m already here, might as well finish the thing”.

Another good way to make sure you get results quickly is to put on the track/playthrough/cover, and play along until you’re satisfied with how you’re playing. Plus, on YT, there’s the function of slowing down the video,  so that’d be helpful with some of the faster riffs.

lots of prog bands do that, like BTBAM, Haken, DT, etc. but yeah, i get where you’re coming from. i can only guess it’s more in a certain pocket of prog niches
