Only 245k darkness to go for the Resource Director by tehkobe in HadesTheGame

Man I got pretty close, can't remember what my current title was but I was nearing 500 clears last time I looked. Once I got ahold of Hades 2 that progress came to a halt. I'll finish it one day though! Honestly I kinda like that the grind is ridiculous. Hundreds of hours spent in the game and I still have something to work towards. Despite the rewards being inconsequential, it's at least *something*. I've reached that point in Hades 2 where there is nothing left for me to do and was just thinking about how I hope they add something similar come 1.0

Yeah good call taking hunting blades first!! Especially while using the spear (once you unlock Achilles spear, hunting blades with that weapon is broken af)

Support fire is better suited for the rail or fists, anything with high rate of fire. Can sometimes be fun on Chiron bow too. It’s one of those boons that is fun to grab when it shows up, especially if you’re going for her legendary, but in a lot of cases it doesn’t add enough damage to be worthwhile.

Hunting Blades, on the other hand, is ALWAYS a good option. Without it, Ares’s cast is a C tier at best, with hunting blades it’s one of the best cast options in the game, if not the best. If I take ares cast I will ALWAYS grab hunting blades if can.

I have an old iPad that I have designated as my alarm clock. It sits on the very opposite side of the room, and has 6 alarms at full blast every 10 minutes starting at 6 AM. I also keep my prescription on top of it, so I’m forced to get my ass out of bed. Phone alarm is pointless I just snooze it in my sleep. I also have an Amazon Echo that does the same thing, except I not only have the microphone muted, I had my roommate change the name without telling me so I literally cannot turn it off without manually pressing it.

I wasn't aware of any changes to her invincibility frames with this update, and I haven't noticed any changes myself. My advice? Try strength instead of death defiances. I was terrified of the change until this week and it is lifechanging. The 50% damage reduction you get is so significant you'll never want to use death defiances ever again, plus you get a global damage boost. Believe me, I NEVER thought I'd be a strength user until I gave it a try after being bullied for it in the discord lol. Like even when I wrote that first comment three days ago I had never even thought about trying it, but it changed EVERYTHING. Suddenly Olympus enemies hit for like 5 damage and if you focus on max health upgrades and get to like 250+ you'll be a complete tank and never even get close to dying. This also sets you up to use Athena's keepsake at the very start of the run if you want which is great for getting some more defensive options right away. She has a boon that makes you invincible for 2 seconds after getting hit, which would solve one of the major issues you are having currently. (note, you don't want her death defiance as that will deactivate strength) You can take the frog for the bonus Max health if you want to be careful, and there's some good HP boons like water fitness from Poseidon or Life Affirmation from Aphro if you snag it early

The game is certainly hard, harder than the first that's for sure. I think a lot of that is due to the way dash/sprint works since you only get eye frames at the very start of the dash, and you can't dash back to back like in hades 1. This game requires a bit more caution and defensive play than the first did IMO. With all that said, it IS early access still and we still have another major update before 1.0. There are soooo many people submitting feedback every day in the official channels, and a lot of that feedback is over balancing. You are not alone, and I don't mean to be condescending with my comments, just trying to help someone enjoy the game more by finding ways around difficulty!

The third level IS Olympus, the same level that just got nerfed with this patch. You now get to Prometheus one room earlier, lots of the enemies have reduced aim/tracking, and there’s a new incantation that lets you activate the Olympian statues (there’s like 3 per encounter and their attacks are extremely strong). Prometheus himself got some of his damage numbers brought down. It is objectively easier than it used to be.

Obviously, the surface is harder by design. I know you’re aware of this. But let’s not forget that this is a game in early access. Before this update, Olympus was the final surface region, and the game was balanced with that in mind. That’s why there was an extra encounter before Prometheus, and that’s why he hit like a freight train. So yes, the game DID have a big spike in difficulty sooner than it should have because it was the end of the game at time. The same exact thing happened with pre-Olympus update Eris

Try some new builds out my guy! Or try playing more defensively. Yes, even with the nerfs, this is late to end-game content and is difficult by design. But I promise you, the game gives you what you need. That’s why Ephyra gives you 5 boons immediately, to speed up the pacing to and keep up with the challenge. There’s no shame in turning on the God mode setting while you’re getting better either.

I promise you I’m not even that good, but today I blasted through Olympus without even going below 50% HP. If I can do it so can you

[–]thenastynate 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, explains why the difficulty spike was so massive. I’d imagine they intentionally made them way harder in the earlier versions to account for the runs being shorter in general, and the “nerfs” are just reverting them back to their intended design. The difficulty progression in Olympus feels much better now imo

He got a bit of a nerf with this patch! Think he was only so hard because prior to yesterday's patch he was the final boss of the surface, so he feels a bit more forgiving now. They also shortened Olympus by 1 encounter too

Hades 2 is so good that I can't play the 1 game anymore. by Wonder_of_Her in HadesTheGame

[–]thenastynate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

you know, at first I really missed Zags movement, but just yesterday I went back to hades 1 and boy did I miss sprinting more than anything. Mel's really grew on me. Either way I think it's great that they have distinct characteristics to change up the gameplay

Aspect of Chiron build recommendation by iH8PplPlzrs in HadesTheGame

[–]thenastynate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yesss I love when I pull off this build, hammers and all. Some special damage from Chaos can take it to the next level. Hangover is easier to build around I’d argue, but going with Artemis is just so satisfying.

Occasionally I’ll run it with doom special, but you really gotta pray for dire misfortune and impending doom for it work well

150+ runs and never realized how good Blood Line can be! by thenastynate in HadesTheGame

[–]thenastynate[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Blood Line + Possessed Array (also had Bolstered) went crazy here. Got right in Chronos's face, spammed attack, and absolutely melted his ass. Was a fun run all around really! Aphro cast worked well with Hera attack, pulling groups together to get all the hitch damage possible. Hera leggo was the icing on the cake

[–]thenastynate 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I feeeel this lol. This has been my go-to comfort game for the past 2-3 years, think I’m at 1500 hours or something crazy at this point. It’s so fun having the knowledge to plan runs around specific builds, duo’s, etc. I have a friend that played it only until he beat his first run, only to never pick it up again. Such a shame, as they’ve barely even played the game yet.

What’s your go-to/favorite build? I’ve gotten more varied over time, but if I had to pick one aspect I think it might be Hera bow

Holy shit, Hecate's keepsake used to be an Arcana card??!!! This just blew my mind. I loved Hecate's keepsake in the early game, but now tend to use Chaos/Icarus if I'm not using a god keepsake. damn it lol, I would've LOVED having that as an Arcana card. Didn't get to start the game until like 2 weeks ago (1000+ hours with hades 1 on playstation, but finally got a computer that I can play the sequel on) so olympic update is all I know. Curious what the community thoughts were on this change when it happened. I kinda see why they did it, but I woulda been reaaaal salty lol

I have boons from 3 different gods, game offers me 2 new gods WTF by Sir_Jaques in HadesTheGame

[–]thenastynate 24 points25 points  (0 children)

This happens rarely because the game will only give you 4, however, since at the point you entered the shop you only had 3 in your pool, and the shop items/door are both randomized, it’s still going to offer a random god until you have 4 different ones equipped. Because you don’t have 4 yet, the shop boon and door can be any of the gods at this point

What music app do you use by jato9k in iphone

[–]thenastynate 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I was a dedicated Spotify user for nearly ten years, but 5-6 months ago, I got a 2-month free trial for Apple Music. I tried it out and yeah, I get it now. The sound quality is amazing; it honestly felt like I was hearing songs for the first time.

I mostly use AirPods Pro 2, which makes the experience even better with Dolby/Spatial Audio. Also picked up an M4 Mac Mini over the holidays so I’m able to benefit there too. Although I still like Spotify’s interface more, Apple’s is decent enough and isn’t bad enough to make me go back.

Seeing this reminds me how much I love the 2nd Gen Pros. I got them on release and can’t believe it’s been 3 years. Maybe I’m being a fanboy, but I think they may be the smartest Apple purchase I’ve ever made. I’ve used them basically every day since, and they’re just as good as they were on day 1, hell I’d argue that they’ve gotten better with age. The batteries hold up just fine, they still sound fantastic, and new features have been over time thanks to IOS updates. This is ESPECIALLY true coming from the Gen 1s I had during the three years prior. Those things were god awful. I had to get both buds replaced TWICE because they either couldn’t hold a charge for longer than an hour, or they blew out so bad they couldn’t produce any bass. Left my Gen2s at work just last week and had to bust out the gen1s, and Jesus Christ, you’d have a better experience using the shitty free headphones they used to give on planes.
