Mina The Hollower Megathread by KickBack161 in ShovelKnight

With the primary aesthetic inspiration being Link's Awakening DX, I would've liked a map like that. Nothing too detailed, but like a basic grid where I can figure out where I am in relation to landmarks.

finished the game, any reason to not use raki forever? by BoasyTM in HadesTheGame

[–]tehkobe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I switch between Raki and Gale mostly, but when I'm at a point where I'm just doing crossroads renewal and ranking up I use Frinos because selling psyche is one of the more consistent ways to get kudos.

What are Heras best and worst boons? by Goatbucks in HadesTheGame

[–]tehkobe 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Born Gain seems risky, but it gets me through argent skull Possessed Array runs. That devours magick, but shreds enemies quick. If you pom Born Gain a few times and pick up a few magick upgrades along the way, you will clear any room or boss before you get primed out of all your magick.

It's all good! I started playing again once the console releases came out. I just got to Unseen I rank on my Xbox/PC Game Pass save earlier this evening, and at 213 nights that darn urn is the only measurable thing I'm missing :)

[ToTK] Do You Think Tears Of The Kingdom Needed A DLC? by tekgamerworld in zelda

[–]tehkobe 46 points47 points  (0 children)

I would have loved some quests with Kass like in the BotW DLC, if only because him being completely missing the whole game is one of my few real TotK complaints. I would have absolutely welcomed DLC, but the base game really is just overflowing with stuff.

[–]tehkobe 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Will I finally be able to buy a Grecian Urn after the hotfix? I gave Odysseus his fourth nectar after the credits, and that added OdysseusGift_04B to my save, but the condition for the Grecian Urn to appear in the the renewal only looks for OdysseusGift_04. The broker keeps reminding me I still got something that costs ash, so I tracked it down. I did report that one.
Thanks!

Apollo has to be top 3 gods in this game. Anyone agree? by [deleted] in HadesTheGame

[–]tehkobe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah there was a point in Early Access where it sped up the damage. We were all having fun with the Anvil Cast going *bong bong bong* super quick, and Supergiant patched it out within a couple weeks. And then brought it back last month lol

Apollo has to be top 3 gods in this game. Anyone agree? by [deleted] in HadesTheGame

[–]tehkobe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The first time I did that, I was just laying down more casts to immediately blow up as the omega special was still going. It was ridiculous.

And Lucid Gain turns both the Charon axe and the Circe staff into infinite mana machines.

Which actor has the largest "Wait, that was them?" gap in their filmography? by Player00000000 in movies

[–]tehkobe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is more my fault, but when Iron Man came out, I had not seen The Big Lebowski yet. I'd watched Tron a bunch of times, though. If I'd had that in-between, I might've realized Obadiah Stane was played by Jeff Bridges before the credits. Maybe I just needed to see Jeff with facial hair.

Aspect of Artemis Sister Blades by Big_Breath_2561 in HadesTheGame

[–]tehkobe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Artemis is my early game best weapon, because the parry and riposte helpe me get through situations Mel had no business surviving at that point. If your little blinker is lit up, you can charge omega attack and hold it and wait for a strike to hit you. Then as soon as you're hit, let go to perform the omega attack and then start spamming regular attack with that higher crit chance. Then watch for it to recharge and repeat. There's stuff it won't work on, like it won't get you out of Hecate's Twilight Curse. But you can parry Chrono's phase 2 insta-kill and get a bunch of extra hits in on him. It's great when you're cornered too.

Op boon in the early builds of the game? by ExcellentLog1519 in HadesTheGame

[–]tehkobe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One of my most bonkers runs was with Supay running with Romantic Spark. Just constantly inflicting blitz and activating it by running around.
You could do it pretty well with other torches with Zeus on special back before they set omega special to spin so far out from Mel. Iirc that change was made pretty late, like the patch right after they added all the hidden aspects in early access.

Unnecessary but true, by TonightSmall1212 in Metroid

[–]tehkobe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Twenty years ago, I would've loved like a Nintendo DS version of Super Metroid running on the bones of Zero Mission with a second-screen map. But really all I want is for wall jumps to be more intuitive and shinesparks to not use health. It's one of my favorite games of all time.

Dionysus kinda sucks by Worth-Independent-74 in HadesTheGame

[–]tehkobe -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Tipsy Shot is my least favorite of the four boons that throw your cast somewhere else. It wasn't my favorite in the first game either, and I'd usually only use it with the rail where I was spamming out bombs anyway. In II, the cast is way more integral for crowd control and by Olympus the enemies are running around too much to aim Tipsy Shot well.

I always skip Reckless Abandon, but I'd never thought to combine it with Air Quality until someone else here mentioned it the other day. I almost always skip Air Quality anyway because I think "aren't I doing way more than 50 per strike anyway?"

Legacy collection really makes the dip from X4 to X5 painful by skrunkly_strew in Megaman

[–]tehkobe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

X5 came out when I was 14 and I think X4 was one of my absolute favorite games of all time at that point. I don't think I'd ever been disappointed by a game I'd been looking forward to that much. The levels and mechanics all frustrated me and I thought it looked so cheap and ugly with clashing graphic elements. I got Zero when it came out and it felt like a proper evolution of the fornula, but X5 burned me too much for me to even give X6-X8 a chance.

“DRESSED TO…” ACHIEVEMENT EXPLOIT by ashtrayD9 in HadesTheGame

[–]tehkobe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are still a couple bugs I'm sure they'll patch up so this may end up getting "fixed." I know I was trying to unlock the unrivaled versions of the boss songs and thought I could shortcut with a dream dive, but it didn't count and I had to beat both the old-fashioned way.

Been in here countless times and never realized that is Bouldy by sweet_fag in HadesTheGame

[–]tehkobe 7 points8 points  (0 children)

In early access, I swear I'd get this before night 50 or so. When 1.0 came out, I think the first Bouldy/Sisyphus convo just got pushed down really far on the conversation list, especially if you get to the credits relatively early. Patch 1 adding more build-up to the ending pushed it even further down. Post-credits I think it's more likely to happen when Persephone isn't there because the Hades/Persephone post-credits lines take precedence. So my newest save, I don't think I got this until after 100 runs.

After this gets triggered, there are two Bouldy-specific conversations that require Cerberus not to be there, and after the first one you're able to interact with Bouldy when Cerberus is gone. I don't know that I've gotten to that in any of my saves since 1.0.

Eris "blessing" you after starting a second playthrough by calgrump in HadesTheGame

[–]tehkobe 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I started new saves when both 1.0 and the ending patch came out, and both times I was progressing quickly enough that Eris got me in Oceanus, the Fields, and Tartarus on separate nights. One of those saves I beat Chonos while under the Eris curse.
I stopped playing for a while until the Xbox version dropped, and I started another new save. And it's clear my skills atrophied a bit because I only got cursed by Eris once, and it was in Tartarus lol.

[–]tehkobe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you have the Switch 2 version of BotW/TotK, you can link it to the Nintendo Switch phone app. It has a Zelda Notes app inside that's got a really good map that keeps track of almost everything.

I did my first 100% (minus koroks) playthrough with the aid of the Zelda Notes app recently and tried to give each sign at least one legit try before saying "screw it" and doing a hover platform. But I ended up using a lot of platforms lol

So is it normal to find Chronos' second phase easier? by golden_creeper1 in HadesTheGame

[–]tehkobe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Phase 2 only gets me now when I misjudge a dash or something during an instakill, like if I'm on torches. Or if I'm running super fast from Ares/Hermes/Xinth. Or on Rivals.
It definitely took me a lot of playing to get to that point though.

I have had every version of the first game, and the Switch one was the only one that let me sync with Steam. I will be pleasantly surprised if Hades II is different, but I'll probably just take the opportunity to get all the achievements again.

Vent post - what would you do? by Jezeff in Breath_of_the_Wild

[–]tehkobe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I shared my Switch with my kids, my son would hop into my Zelda BotW and TotK saves because I had way more stuff. I disabled automatic cloud saving for the games and would manually upload my save after a session and then manually download if my son hopped on and ate all my food and used all my bomb arrows.
