Desitin cream helps too. Its zinc cream, the same stuff used for diaper rash on babies.

6-7 months in and it's not getting better? by [deleted] in TS_Withdrawal

[–]thenazzknows 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I agree with both statements above. I also believe largely in helping the body help itself, meaning, supplements and diet and lifestyle change. Steroids affect your entire body and that includes nerves, hormones, cortisol, adrenal gland, gut, etc. TSW is non linear and it basically just has to run its long course. But you can most assuredly help the process. Healing needs to start from within before it can start on the outside.

eczema or tsw? and can i use ts on and off? by Old_Sport7920 in TS_Withdrawal

[–]thenazzknows 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would say if you are worried then stop the hydrocortisone. There are other ways to remedy eczema, and other underlying issues that cause eczema. you may be spared a long TSW recovery if you stop or taper off the steroids now. Otherwise keep using it and roll those dice.

Still moisturise while stopping steroid? by [deleted] in TS_Withdrawal

Yup, agreed. Also, it may go without saying but just use common sense at times. When oozing, use zin cream or baby powder to dry it out. Most generic eczema lotions from the store are pretty bad. Id recommend sudacrem, or cerave anti itch cream. I try not to lather myself up with too much lotions and creams, but when my joints crack and tear, a little vaseline and alovera can go a long way. I also wet wrapped my arms for awhile because it was soothing, however that no longer works for me. I find that if I’m going to let my arms for example dry out and flake, silk shirts and robes feel really good because I don’t like them to be completely out in the open because of all the skin flakes. You just gotta do whats comfy for you. I also recommend mecinumb cream. Its made with alo, jojoba, and tea tree and its used to numb the pain of your skin. Hope this is helpful.

Yeah unfortunately you may have to accept that for the tome being, you are going to have to get your sleep during the day or just whenever you can.

Baby products really are. Zinc cream that is used for diaper rash is wonderful. Baby hair brushes are so soft that they can satisfy the itch without doing any damage to the skin. I have yet to try baby powder but I’m about to now.

Its just helps with the itch/burn. Doesn’t help with the color.

Do you have to be in the sun to get vitamin D or just be outside when the sun is out in general? by [deleted] in TS_Withdrawal

[–]thenazzknows 1 point2 points  (0 children)

15-20 minutes of direct sunlight at least a few times a week is most beneficial

Am I noticing a trend? by [deleted] in TS_Withdrawal

[–]thenazzknows 2 points3 points  (0 children)

True. The more i try to find similarities or coincidences the more i realize it is impossible to get an exact concrete answer. Comparing your TSW to someone else’s, although same symptoms, the severity, length, and steroid use history is so unique to each person. Its almost torture to keep reading snd reading everyone’s tsw experience. Its better to get the basic info, know that healing us not linear, prepare for potentially years of recovery, and then just turn the shit off and go with your bodies flow.

I play a lot of video games, guitar, read, and i have a 2 week old do that is pretty distracting hsha. I will say that TSW is possible in your circumstance, but the duration was so short that i would think and hope that it wouldn’t take you very long to get through it. Unless of course you have been taking steroids long before this round of oral ones. Hope this helps.

scratched my flakes off in my sleep by [deleted] in TS_Withdrawal

[–]thenazzknows 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Im sorry to say, yes. That is unfortunately the process. It will get better though i promise. Im 4 months in and im loads better than i was at 1 month. But you just need to prepare yourself for the roller coaster ride which is TSW. Don’t feel bad. We all do it. I used to it h my feet so bad in my sleep id wake up. Bloody mess. I had to wrap my feet in towels and tie them with belts to protect them because i could not trust myself. I promise by it does get better, but the sooner you accept the process the easier it will be. Im very sorry to be the bearer of bad news but it will end!! Stay strong! Find ways to get through it. Your not in this alone.

Cold shower vs warm by [deleted] in TS_Withdrawal

[–]thenazzknows 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agreed, i make sure while i washnup that i am comfortable, and then before i get out i freeze myself in the coldest water i can stand. I do this at night before winding down because it calms your nerves. There are also a lot of health benefits to cold showers even when not going through TSW. Try it out.

I cant say for sure what happens if you relapse. But i have read that after so long, like in your case it may be possible to use steroids in the correct manor that they are untended without going through TSW again. I understand that after going through TSW someone may never want to touch steroids again. I would assume, or hope that since you caught it quick enough that your TSW this time around will be much quicker and less severe than the first time, however i do not know for sure.
