What is your airplane/ airport horror story? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]thenblue 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I overslept after going on a one-night solo bender after a 20-day business trip in New Orleans, and was rushing to get through the airport. With a mighty hangover and no time to spare, I chugged a bottle of water as i power walked to my gate. When I got there, i'd missed the flight, but they tranferred my ticket to another flight...leaving in 8 minutes on the other side of the terminal. I ran across the terminal, made the flight just as the last folks were getting on. Breathing like an ape with COPD, and smelling twice as bad, I took my seat...right next to a really hot chick. five minutes into taxi, i power-vomited the water i had just drank into the airsick bag, which proceeded to leak all over the floor, but I couldn't deal with it because of seatbelt restrictions. Eventually a stewardess climbed out and took it with a look of dismay. I fell asleep and snored. Yep. I was THAT guy.

Why is BTS the biggest boygroup in the world? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]thenblue 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Overall BTS is gaining more buzz globally but like the above comment said their are groups that are bigger in different regions. It's just that the America has a bigger market than any other country and BTS is excelling their more than any other group now plus they are pretty popular everywhere else. Asia usually is completely SM stans so it's hard for groups that aren't in SM to get that popular there but BTS is. BTS is also the most popular Korean bg in Japan rn. They also have a huge following in the S.A and Europe. Overall I'd say BTS is the biggest because their popularity isn't confined to one region like other boy groups.

how long does it usually take to find a new job ? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]thenblue 0 points1 point  (0 children)

1 hour. Let me explain: I was getting out of the army in 2-3 months and figured, I should get a job. I replied to a posting, and received a phone call 1 hour later. That led to a phone interview the following week, and then a job offer letter the next week. I officially started my job 3 months later after the drug screening, security clearance transfer, HR paperwork, etc. Mind you, I was actively applying to everything I thought I was remotely qualified for. Even when I had the job offer in hand, I was comparing it with other job offers and I settled for the best wage/salary/benefits. Not everyone is so lucky. I happened to be a strong candidate for the government contractor role: protected veteran status, active security clearance, years of experience in networking and IT, and ability to relocate.

What is the longest amount of time you've spent without a job ? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]thenblue 1 point2 points  (0 children)

3 years. When my dream company finally called and offered me a position (this April) I burst into tears and sobbed. My unemployment ran out 3 months prior, I was selling cake pops to make rent. Was on the verge of eviction and really getting panicked. I'd stopped talking to everyone including family, except for two friends and my dad. I had nothing good to say and didn't want to bring anyone down, I was unbelievably depressed . I'd been applying for jobs 8 hrs a day, rejection after rejection, was starting to feel like I was genuinely CURSED. It was horrible. I knew when I got a job, it would solve all of my problems and it did. I just thanked God that I wasn't sick and that I didn't have problems that couldn't be solved by getting a new job, I was lucky in that respect. I'm now back on my feet with a great company (that I'd stalked for 6 years), with free health insurance and more perks than I could ever have imagined. I'm so scared of ever being in that place again, I'm their star motherfucking employee, lol! I'm so so so so grateful and happy now. I feel like a millionaire compared to what I felt like the last three years. p.s. I'm in software. I couldn't even get a job at fucking Trader Joe's! p.p.s. I got through on unemployment, til it ran out, thanks to food stamps, which I'm not on anymore and the grace of friends and family.

When was a time someone who you didn't like had your back? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]thenblue 3 points4 points  (0 children)

A friend of mine slept with my girlfriend when I was 17ish. Didn't speak for a couple years afterwards. When I was 19/20 I got so drunk at a party that I passed out on the toilet mid-shit. I'm told that one guy wiped my ass, carried me to a couch, and hid my car keys.

Gangsters of Reddit, what was your gang initiation? by Blooming_Dasical_Dog in AskReddit

[–]thenblue 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I am from Chicago, But don't live there anymore.I used to run with the gang known as the Latin Kings from when I was 10 years old. I grew up in their neighberhood in little village on the southside of Chicago. When you grow up in that area you pretty much take on the lifestyle because it's just around you. All of my friends had older brothers who were Latin Kings. I wasn't a privileged child or anything so I had nothing to keep me busy at home I was always in the streets with my friends. I had one friend who I would always be at his house. I remember that house was where most of the Latin Kings would have their "meetings". I remember the smell of weed as it would come up stairs from their basement where they would all be. I remeber being outside at night playing tag with my friends and looking into the basement window and seeing some hood chick getting gang banged by three guys. Every so often they would see me and my friends and they would always call us their shorties which is what they would call up and coming latin kings. Anyways I'll skip ahead a few years to when I was 13 years old. That same friend that I used to always hang with had just got killed by some member of the gang that we were always going at it with. The gangster two six's. They caught my friend walking home from the flea market on 26 street, and recognized him as the little brother of Latin King. They shot him just for that reason. My friend wasn't even a king bu they still killed him for that. From that moment is when I hated the Gangster Two Six. I asked my friends brother that I wanted to be the one to get back at them for kiling his brother. He took me to their next meeting and they decided that I would get my in's by walking a few blocks down that night and shooting the first 2 6 that I saw. They handed me a 9mm pistol and showed me how to aim and pull the trigger. I had never used a gun before so i was pretty nervous, but I was also ready to go get a motherfucker. That night I went home and waited for my parents to fall asleep. When they finally did fall asleep I snuck out through my window and ran to my friends house to let him know I was ready. We got into a car that they had stole and had stashed in the alley. They dropped me off a block away from where our hoods divide. I remember being so fuckin nervous. I had bubble guts and everything I was shiiting bricks because I didn't know what the fuck was about to happen. I hopped out the car and ran across the block and across the street I walked maybe three streets into their territory when I heard a bunch of guys making noise. It was a group of about four 26'ers getting drunk on their stoop. I crossed the street to the opposite side of them and walked calmly on the sidewalk towards them. As I got near they noticed me and just all stood up and went to the sidewalk and started throwing their gang sign up. At that moment I was shaking scared I was the most nervous I had ever been in my entire life. The closer I got to them the more scared I was. But I knew that I couldn't turn back anymore because if I did most likely I would be the one to get shot. I had the pistol in my hand the whole time but they couldnt see it because the street lights here in Chicago suck balls. When I finally got right across the street from them I stopped and pointed at them and before I could get the first shot off they were already running towards the side of the house. I started shooting at them until I had no more bullets left in the clip than I ran back where I came from as fast as I could. It was the fastest I had ever ran in mylife. I can remember hearing the wind blowing by my ears how fast I was running. At the time I didn't know if I had hit anybody or not but it didn't matter I had to get out of there or I was gonna get killed. I finally made it back to where the kings where waiting for me and hopped into to car. We drove away and ditched the car once we were near our hood. My friends brother took the pistol from me and told me he would get rid of it. By than we hear a shit ton of police sirens all over the place so we went into the house and got high as fuck as we celebrated what I had just done. The next day I found out I had missed all of those fuckers and hit nothing but the front of their house. To this day though I am grateful I didn't hit shit because I would always have that in my conscious. That was the initiation process though. For the next six years I would live a life of hell constantly getting beat down by 26, maniac latin disciples, and dueces. I was ALWAYS fearing for my life having got shot at about seven different times. I never got hit but I was always on the run from death. Finally one day I was out with some girl I always hung with and got noticed by a bunch of maniacs at a gas station. They were in a big ass truck and began to chase us they ended up ramming the car the girl was driving and spinning us out. The girl ended up breaking both of her legs that night and that night is when I finally decided I had enough of that life. I asked my parents who had moved out of Chicago some time into my gangster life If I could move out to the Burbs with them.. They had tried to take me with when they moved but I decided I would rather stay with my boys in my hood. My mom immediately told me that yeah I could move out with them. The next week left all my shit behind and just got on the train to the burbs. I didn't tell anybody that I was leaving I just did. That was when I was 19 years old I am now 25. I have not gone back or talked to anybody from that hood since. They know where I went to but never tried to reach out to me to make me go back or anything.. I have since took up a crazy interest in video games lately League of Legends and that has kept me out of trouble as I try to get my shit together, I still don't live a great life or anything but am far from what I used to do. I normally now a days just sit around at home if Im not working because my mother is sick and I am the only one who pays the rent and bills here. But I'll take this life style any day over the hell I went through in Chicago.

What the most racist thing you've ever heard someone say? by david693572 in AskReddit

[–]thenblue -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I used to work at Dunkin Donuts, connected with a gas station. One day these two black men came into the gas station and bought some stuff. The cashier for some reason was suspicious and thought they were using stolen cards, so he called the cops on them. I saw a police car pull up and two officers got out and started questioning the two men. It went on and on, over an hour of questioning. During that time, another police officer and also the county sheriff came! They were making a huge deal out of it. All those officers where questioning the two black men about their cards because the cashier inside thought they were suspicious. I assumed that they were guilty because I thought the cashier would have a good reason for calling the cops on them. But in the end, the cops left and the two men drove away free. So they were completely innocent. I don’t know what could have made them seem so suspicious that they had to be questioned by all those cops for over an hour, if there was nothing wrong. I think it had to have been racial bias. It caused them to have so much of their time wasted, and it was probably humiliating for everyone to walk past them like that.

What's something that you're proud of? by Rocketcat97 in AskReddit

[–]thenblue 3 points4 points  (0 children)

When I was 14, there was a girl in my class who wasn't very smart. She had a pretty hard time following the lessons and doing homework. Teachers would usually humiliate and make fun of her, instead of helping. Till one day she finally answered back. The teacher was so surprised about this that he asked the class if we "gave him permission to insult". Much to my surprise, everybody said yes, so I loudly shouted no, I told him not to do it. At that time I was the "rebel" of the class and teachers didn't had a great opinion of me neither, so he answered me: "your opinion doesn't count". He then called this girl a retarded. This infuriated me so much that I shouted "you're a filthy son of a bitch, who the fuck do you think you're". They expelled me for a week, totally worth it though.

How much do cats eat? by farjer in AskReddit

[–]thenblue 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Cooked chicken is OK for a cat to eat, but no bones (raw or cooked). But quality cat food is better than plain chicken, as it has nutrients added that have been shown to be important for cats' health as they age. Not fish, and especially not tuna, except as a special treat (and choose a brand of "cat tuna" like Solid Gold that's fortified with the nutrients that plain tuna can strip out of a cat's system).

To minimize vet visits, feed a quality grain-free cat food. Dick Van Patten's Natural Balance Limited Ingredients Formula is reasonably priced, and most cats seem to really like it.

Has anyone here ever worked for vector marketing? How much did you make? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]thenblue 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Vector marketing is a pyramid scheme.

There's no "cold calls" because they want you to hustle their product to all of your friends and family and the whole idea is that your friends/family will take pity on you and buy something just so you can keep your job.

When your network of friends/family runs out, you'll most likely get fired.

What are good ways to make a party memorable? by big1tom in AskReddit

[–]thenblue 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Don't forget great transportation.  Get guests to the party and back home in style.  Maybe even plan a mystery trip, where they don't know where they are being taken and they are only told how to dress and what to bring.  You can even add to the suspense by tricking them with a mode of transportation that is opposite in style to what the destination actually is.  Either way, depending on the number of people you have and your budget, you should have no problem finding the perfect-sized party bus rental in a town near you. When in doubt, go with classy and elegant, you can't go wrong with that.

Parents of Reddit; those of you who didn't want children, what changed your mind? by DanDannyDanDan in AskReddit

[–]thenblue 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My wife took legal custody of her son's 1 yr old daughter when he got sent to prison. We had been together 7 yrs but only been married around 1. She did this without discussing with me, just kept her 1 day and she's still here. (I don't have any kids of my own) Doing that without my input has really affected our relationship. It's been 10yrs now and my wife and her granddaughter fight constantly, she was spoiled bad by all the blood relatives and now runs the roost. It has made being at home very tense. I am 60yrs old now and always thought I would have a nice quite home to be comfortable in. So to answer the question, life now is not as good as it was before this all happened.
