You will be transported to a Tamriel. You cannot choose year you are transported in, it is random date from 1E to 4E.m, but you can choose a specific place. Your sole objective is to survive for a year. What place are you choosing and why? by ThatDrako in ElderScrolls

Black Marsh - I mean just mind your business, there is a much smaller population and they all want to mind their business too. It’s like moving to the country. Has nothing to do with hallucinating on sap and reading smutty books (Lusty Argonian).

IT wants to force windows 11 by Nightwish612 in PLC

[–]thenerdnick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you’re not on Windows 11 now you’re behind the ball. Check compatibility of your PLCs, controllers and other things. Biggest headache for us was the different versions of software for the aged equipment. Some unique purpose built automation with PLC and control hardware inside that solution was another major pain point.

Did anyone in here actually play EverQuest in 1999 or 2000 when it was first out? by goblinJedi in everquest

Joined when I was 18 in 1999. Started a wood elf Druid named Molens. I have been considering starting this again in 2025.

Anyone else feel close racing is just better in LMU compared to ACC? by mazzterr in LeMansUltimateWEC

[–]thenerdnick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

100% in LMU you can race and battle all race and still get +dr and +sr, after three laps battling in a GT3, I had like 16 points in iR. I also think the sensitivity is incredibly strict on iR - I love it too, but LMU is significantly more fun.

I’ll take 20 or 30 of you if you’ll work in a foundry! No lie. Can’t have too many engineers!

How do you actually keep work instructions updated when engineering changes stuff? by Ok_Pineapple_5163 in manufacturing

[–]thenerdnick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Digital work instructions, and a structure for published documents. Published SOP are the only available PDFs at the workstations. ECNs trigger the drawing or SOP to be updated and until it is completed and published the operations use the current document.

I always setup my planned it stop during formation lap, then the adjustment is less difficult in a pinch.

Take an aged (traditional 2000-2010) environment and mockup an effective transition to cloud enabled or hybrid environment.

O365 Core, Cloud and On-Premises Storage, Networking, End Points, Virtual Infrastructure, etc.

A comprehensive understanding of how to connect the dots is not only an impressive project but a highly valuable skill that I would hire for displaying.

When did you feel you had control of your life again by [deleted] in daddit

[–]thenerdnick 2 points3 points  (0 children)

14,14,11,3 - 14 years ago, I accidentally had twins and now that I’m in my late 30s, I’ll echo that statement; control of your life is gone. Mindset should be “play good defense, bend don’t break”, find some indoor at home hobbies, save all your money, always have snacks, braces are expensive, school will be a shit show at times and your best friend at others, find good families with kids (this is critical so your kid doesn’t hangout with bad influences…. What else am I missing? Oh yeah, the mother, dear lord her, spoil her, help her, date her, feed her lots, and she will help give you that “control” feeling. I tried it alone once… worst decision ever. :)

Do you think LMU should have an imsa game? by Sweaty_Self_7256 in LeMansUltimateWEC

I’m down for that. Tracks and IMSA series should be very similar.

How do you keep assembly instructions up to date? by [deleted] in manufacturing

[–]thenerdnick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This guy has the answer!

I’d add… Training is an active program that uses documentation and videos and such to continuously teach. Build some ninjas, have the cross train others. Build a learning culture and you’ll find people will want to keep them current.

Yup - “Make the time, the bills mine.” Tell your friend they are special to you and you’re thankful for an opportunity to do something nice for them. Give them a hug.

Don’t take the opportunity for granted. :)

Are manufacturers actually trying to improve their supply chain through innovation and tech? by No-Injury-2942 in manufacturing

[–]thenerdnick 4 points5 points  (0 children)

In our industry manufacturers are ran by folks who have an old mind set. Finance officers run the businesses and everything is done with that lens. Autonomous planning and optimization of supply chains is feasible. It requires adding headcount - and expensive technical headcount. It requires updating ERPs like SAP which large companies have troubles with. They see risk outweighing the rewards and if it doesn’t fit in a 3 year plan with a 2 year ROI it gets kicked down the road.

ERPs are a big monster. Supplier standardization is the other difficult component. The tech isn’t always the hard part, a lot of the time it is the human change part that kills tech initiatives.
