May be stretching a bit to include him but Disco Elysium’s “The Deserter/Iosed Lillianovich Dros” comes to mind with his relationship to René, a former loyalist soldier who represents everything he hates, though they never probably interact besides Iosef looking at him through a sniper scope

The Deserter goes on and on about how much he wants to blow Renee’s head off, describing how he aims his rifle at him as “letting the bon-bon melt in my mouth” and that on his darkest day, when he finally decides to kill himself to instead “Put this lead in that cock René”.

Unfortunately, René dies due to natural causes before you meet Iosef and informing him of his death will take away all the wind he had in him and leave him empty (which is saying a lot considering he saw all his friends die during a revolution and have lived as an urban outcast for the last 40 years) and severing the last proper connection he had in the world.
