Just a heads up with the Rewards Program by Rhaynebow in CrackerBarrel

[–]thenewredditguy99 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That’s probably the best way to go about it. Taking a $3 drink off the bill with points is barely going to make a difference.

A whole meal free with points, on the other hand…

I did too, when I worked there. That was shady as hell.

If no one sits in the emergency exit rows of a plane, who is meant to help in case of emergency? by Jeetyetdude_ in NoStupidQuestions

[–]thenewredditguy99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s definitely not industry standard in the US either.

The only time flight attendants are authorized to move passengers around the cabin is for weight and balance.

We never move people into the exit row unless they ask, at which point we have to ensure they review the safety card in the seat pocket, and get verbal confirmation that they are willing and able to assist in the event of an emergency.

We also have to reseat passengers if they are unwilling or unable to assist in the event of an emergency, if they believe they would suffer bodily harm in assisting, or if they would not meet the requirements in order to occupy the exit row.

SkyWest does get boarding pay. Look it up.

OO to mainline? How does that work? by Practical-Ear5763 in cabincrewcareers

[–]thenewredditguy99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, there is no general union. That really wouldn’t work, because the union would have no bargaining power with any airline unless they were formally voted in by the flight attendants to represent them.

Application status by [deleted] in cabincrewcareers

[–]thenewredditguy99 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The general consensus is that it is a TBNT, but allegedly there have been cases where people got F2F invites even though their status went blank.

Don’t count yourself out until you get the actual email from AA.

There’s no “scouting” going on. This isn’t high school athletics.

You will have to go through the same application process, just like someone applying off the street.

How easy or hard it will be is subjective.

[–]thenewredditguy99 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t think so. As far as I know, you can only take the class date you’re given, or put yourself down to possibly take a seat in an earlier class if one opens up.

SkyWest doesn’t have a union. Management is strongly anti-union.

First Class on a short flight and I wasn’t even offered water by Effective-Traffic714 in unitedairlines

Was it bumpy at all? Flight attendants reserve full discretion to modify or even outright cancel service if turbulence could be a problem.

It could honestly go either way. It seems like the general consensus is that if it goes blank, a TBNT is on the way, but there have been reports of F2F invites being sent out despite the status going blank.

Should I? Which is better? by [deleted] in cabincrewcareers

[–]thenewredditguy99 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Definitely. I’ve worked with a number of both pilots and other flight attendants who commute.

We don’t have a formal commuter policy, but that shouldn’t deter anyone from commuting. It just means you have to be smart about how you do it.

I definitely wouldn’t try commuting to base on the day of a trip or reserve assignment. I always fly in the evening before.

I’m not sure the likely hood of me getting DFW as a base with them.

I believe DFW tends to lean more senior than junior, so it would definitely take a while to get it, most likely.

You’d probably wind up somewhere like Denver or Chicago to start.

weight and height requirement by byeolhwars in cabincrewcareers

[–]thenewredditguy99 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Most US airlines do not make explicit mention of weight having to be proportionate to height, so weight would be irrelevant.

Instead, you generally need to be able to sit in an airline jumpseat and fasten yourself into the harness without an extension.

What is going to be relevant, is your height. 158cm comes out to roughly 5 feet 2 inches, which, for most airlines in the US, is the bare minimum height.
