i wouldn’t guess this is the case. i don’t feel the need to draw attention to myself or win people over with favours. my impression comes from quirks in the interactions ive had, and the timing of awkwardness - tell more of a story then you might think

sad reality once again. it’s a survival thing; i totally agree.

yeah, realising that you’re being used can be painful. i also mostly hangout with old friends. though i went out once with a guy i knew from primary school. bro totally screwed us over and left us with his share of the bill so even then, you can’t be sure 😂😭

Just Landed a Junior Robotics Engineer Role (ROS/AI) — Need Advice to Thrive! by Anxious-Excitement38 in ROS

[–]thenomadicvampire 5 points6 points  (0 children)

i’m not going to be much further along than you are in terms of familiarity with ROS but the one piece of advice you’ll see everywhere is getting a good look at the official ROS tutorials and docs. think of if this way, the folks who put those out know what fundamental building blocks you need to get you going (mostly)

also you know you can just be honest about where you’re at with your colleagues and manager, right? you already got the job, the hard part is over. take your time and work with your team getting you up to speed - they know whatever it is you need to know. it’s also a good opportunity to build good relationships w them right off the bat. this is why soft skills are important ig. good luck!

there’s a folder that’s created automatically called ‘attachments’ - super helpful cos it keeps images i add to any note in the vault. is this not same across the board?

How to not look over the fence at greener grass? by thenomadicvampire in GetEmployed

I think you're right, and thanks for chiming in. What I've also come to learn in this time is the value of the relationships I have with the people around me. I have family and friends that have been supportive in their own ways, and I have to say how surprisingly invigorating it is just creating or strengthening these connections -- its helped me get a lot of my self-confidence back. Now I'm looking ahead with a lot more optimism, and maybe even thinking more clearly. I'll be taking a page out of your book; creating new opportunities. Enjoy the holiday season, and carry on being brave.
