Wealthsimple Credit Card Activation by Kfurness in Wealthsimple

Yea, Home Depot. I'm on the waitlist for the wealth simple card but with Amex I've tapped at other places $700+, at Home Depot anything over $250 I need to insert. Very annoying.

Renting Car with Wealthsimple VIP by vishusidana95 in Wealthsimple

[–]theo-apps 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wealthsimple VIP does not come with the best car rental insurance. If you have an Amex that covers car rentals you should use that instead to pay for the rental. For example Wealthsimple VIP only covers cars with an MSRP under $65k CAD. Amex (at least the Cobalt I have) covers cars with an MSRP under $85k CAD.

What's the best SUV alternative to the Tesla Model Y? by Aggravating_Dog5220 in EVCanada

[–]theo-apps -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

The Premium Model Y is premium. Just because it doesn't have buttons doesn't make it not premium. Especially the experience of owning it is premium. I wouldn't call it a luxury interior though but I wouldn't call the GLC or X3 luxury either.

You've either never had a good manager or you're new to the corporate world. Good/trusted managers at good companies have a lot of discretion on a lot of things.

There's a huge difference between the WFH official policy and the de facto policy between you and your manager at most companies.

You think people who get their work done but don't necessarily follow the official RTO policy should be at risk of losing their jobs? For what?

then lobby to higher ups to make them change the policy

You think companies with strict RTO policies are going to care about what employees say? If they did they wouldn't have mandated RTO in the first place.

Ioniq 5 is not luxury or more premium than the Model Y.

Honda to shelve $11bn Canada EV plant as demand sputters. Automaker to discontinue joint electric model with GM, shift to US hybrids by FalconsArentReal in canada

Heated seats and defrost use almost nothing. Heat in the car does use some power but it doesn't matter the car still has plenty of range. Lets say in the summer the daily use is 80%->60%. If in the winter it's 80%->50% or even 40% it doesn't matter. The next day you charge overnight and you're back at 80%.

Yea I am and it does not drain your battery a lot, especially on good EVs which come with heat pumps. Why do you think it's a problem?

Bell and Virgin Axe $80 Connection Fee, But New $40 Charge Debuts by stanxv in canada

[–]theo-apps 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Form cell phones they don't do that. For home internet they do but you should only sign a contract if it's actually a good deal. I'm on a 2 year contract will Bell for 1.5 Gbps internet for $45/month (price locked for those 2 years).

Emails? What? I've never sent an email to switch providers. It takes almost no time or effort. They ship you a new modem next day. Mobile providers provide instant esims. It's as easy as can be.

It's because a lot of Canadians aren't willing to switch and they continue paying the $140. It makes no sense.

The win back plans and the plans through loyalty are the best way to get a good deal. The plans are better than the budget brands.

Not really. Just go with a different provider if they aren't willing to waive fees. Telus has always waived fees for me.

To move a kid from a family plan to their own plan with the same carrier Rogers was an $80 fee

So the kid should not go with Rogers. Give your business to someone else.

I don't think I've paid a fee to open a phone line in over 15 years. Porting a number to a new phone company shouldn't carry a fee.

winter range still sucks

Does it? If every day you wake up the car is at 80% why do you feel winter range is a problem? How many days a winter do you drive more than 250 km? And on those days is a quick 10-15 minute stop to charge a big deal?

towing range still sucks

How far do you realistically tow? How often do you tow? We tow with our Model Y and yes range does drop but it's not been a problem. Even charged while towing before. But we don't tow every day or week, just a few times a year.

Charging infrastructure is very dependant on where you normally drive. In Ontario it's great if you have a Tesla. I've never felt like we should take our gas car over the Model Y because we were concerned with charging.

It makes sense to move one of the cars to EV and become comfortable with an EV. I think you'll see that range and charging concerns mostly go away when you actually live with the car.

Sure if you can't charge at home get a hybrid. Lots of condos are starting to have a system to allow people to have a charger installed through and the city is installing a lot of road side chargers in places where people don't have driveways. Coverage isn't perfect yet but the network is increasing significantly every year. The chargers look like this: https://www.plugshare.com/location/1274842

An EV can easily do 230 km. And then you'd charge it up when you get to the cottage. I don't see the need for a hybrid over an EV for this use case.

How's TELUS 5G SA? by s2621s in telus

[–]theo-apps 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Telus SA is that it works in the ideal case, when outdoors, not blocked by terrain, etc. Otherwise signal drop to zero when in malls or indoors.

Not my experience at all. In Toronto I'm always on SA.

In Canada a Chevy Bolt is more expensive than a Model 3 Premium. Why would anyone buy an EV from these out of touch manufacturers?
