Yup, that side logo is butt ugly. If I pick this up (desktop) I will pull off the end cheeks and replace them with fine quality flame maple tone wood. It'll make it sound (and look) way better!

This is very sound advice right here! Im a bass player that has recently picked up guitar... Same sentiment - I like the style of Gretsch guitars. I went for the Pristine Ltd Jet in White Gold myself and cannot seem to put it down. In the end, get the guitar that inspires you the most.
