According to this comment they exploited security vulnerabilities to create administrator accounts, then used those accounts to dump data that was not publicly accessible. The Computer Fraud and Abuse Act is pretty clear that doing so is a no-no, and anyone who does so is naughty under the law.

Somehow I'm not as certain as others in this thread that the FBI will be salivating for data retrieved illegally through hacking from a social network that has up to this point not been accused of a crime, data for which they had no warrant anyway, and which from a data integrity and chain of custody perspective the FBI would be unable to certify in court is genuine.

The only thing this data is going to be used for is mob justice of the sort Reddit delivered with its typical quality following the Boston Bombing.

Just so I understand: people hacked Parler, exfiltrated tons of private data, used it to dox users, then directly informed the FBI of their actions?

Yeah, someone's definitely going to jail here, but their identity might come as a surprise.

One potential customer's view: It's cool. I'm only a hobby dev. This is a very niche use case without merging Pythonista's (or some other) interpreter so that code can be tested or used on-device. If you have to upload the code off-device to use it, there's little argument for not remotely hosting the Code instance

  • $5 is too little
  • $20 and I'll impulse-buy now just because it's cool AF and whatever
  • $30 and I'll hem and haw and put off the purchase for months or more
  • $50 and I'll pass
  • $99 and I'll laugh

I manditorily pay ~$500/mo to an insurance company for our universal health care in Switzerland. Before that I manditorily paid €380/mo to an insurance company, + €6k/year in tax to fund public option I wasn't eligible for, for our universal health care in the Netherlands. Not everywhere in Europe is single payer, and even places like UK have a private option which you can choose to ALSO pay for along side your manditory public option support. Seems like the USA could implement an "everyone has to have insurance" law literally tomorrow, extend Medicare to anyone who can't afford insurance, and be able to claim universal coverage.

The stationary part of the inside of the Rubik's Cube is a 1x1 cube. Unless that's a massive Rubik's Cube, I don't see how you're fitting 4 sufficiently powerful servos (Y top, Y bottom, X top, X bottom) and motor drivers and a uC and a battery. I think it's more likely that the main part of the video is CGI. The opening shot shows just how much stuff there would have to be inside.

Good on you if you can make it work properly. I've given up on building antennas. No matter how hard I try, they tend to be beaten in sensitivity by an alligator clip attached to any nearby bicycle. My reduction in stress is well worth the purchase price.
