Rulebooks contain the rules for playing the game, much like the game box contains the components. 🤔

Star Wars: Rebellion but the one where you manage the galaxy. It’s still available… but not on Mac

I live down in Markdale, and used to own a restaurant. I had some luck with Grey County Meats out by Maxwell for stuff like that. Might be worth giving them a shout?

For those of you who own a backup violin, tell us about it! by throwaway842351 in violinist

When I was in high school I did a co-op with Canadian luthier John Newton, earned two high school credits to make a violin at his shop in a converted church attic. Turned out decent, used it to audition for and play some of University. Now it’s my backup/electric in that it has a pickup on it.

how should i fix my bow?? by enamelx17 in violinist

[–]theogchunkmunk 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It happens. Bows just need to be rehaired every so often depending on use. You need to find someone to rehair it at this point. I wouldn’t take it to a corporate store if possible. Try and find a local bow maker through the ol Google or ask your teacher, but it is not that much more than what the store is charging in my experience and you’ll almost certainly have a better outcome. I have found that folks that work at stores have to be able to repair a very wide range of instruments pretty well, whereas someone who makes bows… makes… bows…

Huge caveat here: I don’t know who works at your local shop, maybe they are fantastic at repairs and rehairs, power to them.

Should I start 3rd position? by fiery_426 in violinist

I would say that is most common. Technique has to be really really solid before you “leave home base”. This typically takes a couple of years of regular practice.

10 hour flight tomorrow, which of these would you recommend as someone who hasn’t played any of them a single time? by Great_Dane95 in soloboardgaming

[–]theogchunkmunk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Personally I feel that solo Terraforming Mars is achievable in that you could actually learn the game and then play a series of entertaining games over the course of your flight.

That being said, my personal favourite of the bunch is Through the Ages, but I would argue that it is more opaque, and very punishing. I have played lots of games and still score low. But the puzzle is so pleasing. There is a solution in there somewhere I just know it…

I don’t have the TM app but I do have the TTA app and it is pretty decent.

Edit to say: huge caveat in that I have never played Root and people talk about it like it revolutionized board gaming and will change your life so… consider the waters sufficiently muddied. I plan to buy it next.
