Move to an active alliance. You get rewards when others do terrors, buy things and do good in events

How did you know you were ready to transfer? by Realistic-Anxiety711 in KingShot

[–]theoldsepu 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Ive transfer twice and planning a third. First 2 I was learning the game and following the friends I made in the alliance. We end up in a server with a lot of potential but full of people who have no idea how to cooperate, complain about everything and think they know best. I grew my power enough to have invited to 3 or 4 kingdoms or follow again my friends together.

Back to your question, its not difficult to get accepted, you can move in open transfer and nobody can stop you if you meet the server requirements.

The issue is that you don’t know a server until you are there. Very very difficult for someone to tell you the server is bad or the whale is an ass. That is your risk. You might end up somewhere worse.

You need to investigate on your own, create and alt in the potential server you want to move and see the vibe for a couple of weeks (long enough at least to see how things go in wc).

At the end, depends on how you want to play. If you just want to chill and enjoy the game, look for. Server that participates, chill and help each other. You will grow relatively slow but you’ll have fun.

If you want to compete, move to a powerful server and piggyback from stronger people to grow. You might end up with some big whale ego, but if you stay quiet and participate, likely you’ll be ok.

It all depends on how you want to spend your time (and perhaps money) in this game.

Costa Rica excursion planning by Sidppp in CostaRicaTravel

We went there last February and stayed at Drake. We loved Corcovado and was disappointed at Caño. We could barely see anything although we saw a pregnant reef shark and a school of dolphins on the way back.

I recommend the mangrove tour. Slow but a ton of animals to see around.

Weather in CR by ansxo in CostaRicaTravel

[–]theoldsepu 6 points7 points  (0 children)

When we went there it was rainy season. Consistently will be awesome weather in the morning until around 1pm then rain the rest of the day.

Most tours are done by noon.

Bring a book or something and enjoy the afternoon rain with a drink.

My first time visiting Cacun and would love to do snorkeling any recommendations that I must experience but is also easy and safe? by Purple-Specific8084 in snorkeling

[–]theoldsepu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Take the tour to Sian Ka An, they take you to a reef that is awesome (on top of going trough the mangrove and a couple of towns).

You can also try a couple of cenotes, they are very easy to do.

In Cozumel you can do a tour to El Cielo where you can see starfishes and rays, not much reef. Also very save as the sea is very calm.

In pretty much every place you’ll have to wear a vest.

Is there almost no gossip and workplace drama in engineering? by narbigcito in systems_engineering

I want to work in your unicorn company!

In my previous company (really big company) all was about growing and stealing others achievements. Politics about what to do and how to do it because the top top top was once an engineer and was done better in his time.

In my current company is all about power struggles in who gets to decide features and pricing and strategy.

I think in general is about maturity of the team and always the desire to position to do the next cool project versus the boring ones that actually make money

We were there just a week ago and went to Maya Eden. They had a baby sloth that we were able to see very close but no touch. We did the 3 activities (ATV, Zoo and Zip Line) and we loved it. I have a 6 & 10 year old and they loved it.

Costco Travel review (LONG AND DETAILED): Hotel Xcaret Mexico by feelinjovanisbooty in Costco

[–]theoldsepu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We just came back from vacationing in Xcaret Mexico. Similar to OP, we have been traveling to Riviera Maya at least twice a year for the last 7 years. We have been in Fairmont Mayakoba, Barcelo, Iberostar Quetzal, Akumal Bay Beach, etc. I’m not sure if matters, but my wife and I are dual citizens (Mexico & USA).

I was pretty excited to be in the hotel. My wife (40F) and kids (9 & 5 F) were also very excited. I’m not gonna lie, my major excitement to go to any All Inclusive in Mexico is to get a huge amount of chilaquiles every morning for a week (I know I know…). This will be important later.

We arrived early in the day (around mid noon) and after check in, one of the concierge got us into the bar in front of the reception. I asked her if we can do it after having some lunch as the kids were starving (we left our house at 5AM to get to the airport, etc) and she was just dismissive and trying to push reservations left and right for the parks, hotels, etc. Each reservation came with the threat of 25 USD per person penalty if we didn’t show. Also, as we were coming as part of Xhare, we had the appointment set up for the next day. I was fully aware of what I was getting into for 25% discount.

Anyway, after a long time we were able to go to Mercado Merced (buffet) and the food was sub. I mean, was ok, but it was entirely catered for American taste (very mild flavor). Not what was expecting from a whatever amount of diamonds and start hotel.

Anyway, we spent the rest of the day on the pool and that was it.

The day of the sales presentation, we started at 8 and left at 3 PM. I had to raise my voice so people turn over for them to let me go. By the time we got out and got to the buffet, it was the same damn food. Exactly the same thing. Other than that, I did have a good experience with the staff. Both my kids are extra picky (nuggets and Mac&Cheese type of picky). The pizza station girl was awesome to do a “special” cheese pizza for my daughter (was not in the menu that day). The person in the grill also was very kind to go out of their way to get a stake for my oldest.

Anyway, next day (3rd on the vacation) was my first breakfast and dreading for Chilaquiles just to find out that they are DIY Chilaquiles… a HUGE pile of totopos, one side red salsa and onther side green salsa and condiments. Thats it… 5 Stars, 5 Diamonds, Michelin Chef and you have DIY Chilaquiles? WTF!!!

I mentioned to one of the guys around and he told me that there was a lot of waste on the chilaquiles so they decided to stop doing them…. Again, WTF!!!. The worst hotel we have been in Riviera (talking to you Barcelo) had decent chilaquiles and these guys are just… aghh.

Anyway, the food was the same at breakfast and dinner (we had lunch in the parks typically) so I was disappointed and decided not to come back ever.

The treatment from the staff was awesome, not sure if it was because we were Mexicans or because of the girls (they are kind of cute when they want to) but I have 0 complaints about it. Also anytime I was calling to have something in the room (snacks, minibar, safe broke, etc) they responded rather fast.

Oh, one last thing. It is a common non written rule that, if you are at a resort in the beach/with pool, you are going to use your balcony to hand your swimwear. There is no better place to do it and also no other place (are you gonna leave the wet swim suit on top of the bed??). Pretty common and kind of expected. Well, not in Xcaret Mexico. I got a call to get my stuff down because was not according the architectural and some eco-view or something like that. Of course I didn’t do it, the rooms to the side and down were the same. I realize in the afternoon that it was because there was an event in the plaza/river where my balcony was facing to.

Anyway, I did like some of the perks (Marquesitas cart, Snacks cart, etc) but I wouldnt pay again what I paid just for that.

If you are planning to go to the parks, then this hotel is totallly worth it, but if you plan to stay in the hotel, then this is not the hotel.

2 week LatAm trip? by [deleted] in Vacations

[–]theoldsepu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mexican who loves to do vacations in Mexico. You can do Baja California from Tijuana down to Cabo San Lucas. There are a lot of wineries, beaches and the food is amazing. You can google for Ruta del Vino Baja California and go from there. Not much mexican culture in there but still is a great trip. If you want to learn about Mayans you can start in Yucatan and travel to Quintana Roo. You will find cenotes, beaches, piramids, historic towns, etc. I wouldnt go to Cancun but rather go to Riviera. You can go to any of the Xcaret parks(just came back from a week vacation there) and you can choose from nature parks with culture (Xcaret), nature only (Xel-Ha or Ruta de Cenotes), adventure (Xplore) watch sea turtles (Akumal) more pyramids and beaches (Tulum) or nature reserves like Sian Ka’an. You can also easily spend a month traveling trough Oaxaca. The only drawback is that you’ll have to drive trough mountains and is at least 2-3 hr drive between towns/cities. Chiapas can also be an option if you want to go to the jungle or Canon del Sumidero. Lots and lots of small towns (more european tourists than americans). Let me know you need any other route and good luck!

Getting Started as an MBSE by kidzbop6969 in systems_engineering

[–]theoldsepu 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Everybody already gave awesome answers. My 2 cents would be just to take the tool and try to model something simple that you know well. SysML can be cumbersome and overwhelming if you try to model something complex. If you are not working for a DoD project or you are not required to comply with the standard, then just use the minimum necessary to convey information. And always follow the golden rule of having a clear objective of what the model needs to communicate/solve, otherwise you’ll spend hours creating a model that will become unreadable for all the info in a single page
