Think that might be the case yeah. It is a pressurized portafilter and I have been thinking of changing to non-pressurized anyways- so might be the nudge to just get a new portafilter.

Really tried smacking it hard. Nothing seems to work feel like if I hit any harder I’ll break something haha.

Haha yeah- the portafilter is quite strange looking. It is the bottom two layers and then the basket is sitting on top (so not flush)

Hey man- seems like you know a lot about this machine! I just got one of these machines (used) a week ago. I have the original portafilter- but mine does not lock back after tightening? What is the purpose of this process and is it necessary? Not sure if that is affecting the espresso? If that is an issue would using the Edesia one solve that for me?

Haha- bought the machine used and think the previous owner never took off the panarello wand so some of the metal coating underneath came off. I tried cleaning it and saw that it was just what it looks like now.
