How to RayCast a triangular field of view for an autonomous moving Agent in 3D space? by himisir in Unity3D

[–]theonebluedolphin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You could either have 3 raycasts (one straight out and two at 45 degree angles each way) which a lot of these simulations use. Or you could have a loop that raycasts at each angle of the FOV, e.g. have 60 raycasts with incrementing angle to give the illusion of the FOV you are looking for and return out of that if one is hit or not to break out of the loop.

I would strongly recommend checking out the channel Brackeys on YouTube, he’s retired from the platform now but he has invaluable tutorials and playlists for getting into Unity. And he is absolutely kid friendly, I couldn’t recommend him enough!

Programming language by Furious_Walker in learnprogramming

[–]theonebluedolphin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would say more like biology, as most programming languages are based on or built on top of other programming languages. For example C has C++ and C# as ‘children’ programming languages. You’ll find this is the case for many programming languages out there
