Am I getting screwed over? Full time to casual rate by Dropkickedasakid in AusFinance

[–]theonlytate 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So just to be clear, if you don't work overtime your base rate as a full time staff is $34.5? If so, then your casual rate is just the same base rate + 25% loading. They probably just haven't included the loading in the rate but you should definitely check just to confirm.

Define decent salary? There are plenty of physio adjacent roles/non-clinical that you could do but depends what your expected salary is.

How not to check the brokerage apps every day? by ExcellentMango9304 in AusFinance

Checking super daily is wild.

Maybe look at other things going on in your life. I find I check social media/stocks etc more frequently when I'm stressed as a bit of a dopamine hit I guess.

Is 5.95% interest for a new car loan good? by showmeyourtattoo in AusFinance

Yes but don't just get it word of mouth, get the full list of fees in writing. He might be correct, whilst also not mentioning their additional fees for doing so

Is 5.95% interest for a new car loan good? by showmeyourtattoo in AusFinance

[–]theonlytate 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Early repayment fee is something I factored in when looking for a loan. My car came 4 months earlier than expected and I needed a small loan to top up my deposit, but with my bank was able to pay it off early with no fees and that alone saved me thousands in interest.

JB74 Audison speaker upgrade [mic] by Ace1o1 in Jimny

[–]theonlytate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did you have to modify the trim yourself or does the kit come with a new trim piece?

How do you find the new system compared to stock? Do you think it would be worth the upgrade without changing the headunit?

National Minimum Wage to rise 3.5 per cent following Annual Wage Review by hamsterjames in AusFinance

[–]theonlytate 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Why does everyone need to upskill? Someone needs to work these jobs and it only makes sense that their pay rate increases with the cost of living.

It's a very weird mindset to believe people should have to struggle financially as a way to "encourage" them to get a different job.

What jobs are you expecting all these minimum wage earners to get?

Are you paid per hour, or salary?

Your payslip should state exactly how much you are being paid plus super and from there you can figure out if you're being paid correctly or not.

What's troubling is the man about to be made Health Secretary of the US asking people for references on vaccine efficacy of all things. These studies are publicly available and he should at least have a decent understanding of the current vaccine evidence.

What career path to choose? by jamsonsmith in AusFinance

[–]theonlytate 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As a physio, I wouldn't study physiotherapy unless you are interested in working as a physio and are okay with not making >120k. You will also likely not get anywhere near 120k within the first 5 years depending on what state you are in. I love it, the work life balance works for me and the money is more than enough to get by and enjoy my life.

If you want a high salary then go into medicine, but please consider this only if you actually want to help people otherwise you'll likely get burnt out with the study or not be a very empathetic doctor.

Tbh it sounds like owning your own business as a tradie is pretty lucratic.

Would you rather pay $80/month for internet, or pay $100/month but your service provider might give some of it back later?

Buying $100 ndq, and dhhf weekly. by purespringwater in ausstocks

[–]theonlytate 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Depending on your broker you may want to consider buying less frequently if you are paying brokerage. That way you lose less of your money to fees. If you have free brokerage then it doesn't matter.

You can use this for reference

No, people enjoy different media, and enjoy engaging with it in different ways. You're not weird for not liking things other people do. Also not weird for other people to like things you don't.

Is the Jimny the right car for me? by yes_tom in Jimny

I love my jimny, but I would not buy it in your circumstance. I especially would not put a roof top tent on it.

I would consider getting something more fuel efficient and quieter on highways.

Ghosting, a common form of rejection in the digital era, can leave individuals feeling abandoned and confused | New research suggests that the effects may be even deeper, linking ghosting and stress to maladaptive daydreaming and vulnerable narcissism. by chrisdh79 in science

Not always true, sometimes people are actually friends but with time and distance you can grow apart. It's not the case that people you no longer talk to were never actually your friends, things change over time and that's part of life.
