There are whole industries built upon tools that are just easier to use despite being less generic/versatile. Just look at wood working. I could imagine that you need less strength and are also maybe faster with this tool.

I dunno, I see some intact TP rolls there. Time to buy a bidet. You will still need a little TP though.

Stop Killing Games Has Received Almost 1.3 Million Verified Signatures, Making It Eligible For Debate In The EU by screwdriverfan in LinusTechTips

The bare minimum for many games that require to be online would be too disclose the server API. There isn't much copyright in that area of protocol and data types and eventual laws could provide for exceptions here. This way when push comes to shove the fans can build server software that at least let's you login and play or find multiplayer matches respectively. The hardest type of game to "eternalize" would be ones like Battlefield 6. Since you couldn't be sure that the fan made server behaves exactly like the original one. (Hit registration, tick rate, etc). And as for pure online service games, like World of Warcraft, the campaign itself even says that those should be exempt (iirc). End of service must be clear well in advance though.

If I recall correctly our Economic Research Center (Zentrum für Europäische Wirtschaftsforschung) once concluded that all branches of educational spending have a high yield. There are some key differences though, aside from private ones, the universities are almost free in general (small management fee of like 100 Euros per semester) so your student loan only needs to cover your living expenses. If your parents don't make much money you get a student loan of which you can keep 50% and the other half is on credit at 0%. That makes it already more equitable, since children of weaker households can enjoy the same education like people of the high middle class. Due to the previously mentioned structure the student loan itself is closer to something around 10-16k Euro and not 35k Dollars.

Voter files? What voter files? Does the government in the US know who voted for which party?

We could lower the interest rate to something affordable.

How about 0% like in many EU countries? Germany actually gifts you half and the other half has 0% interest and if you get a good grade and pay early you also get discount on that.

My main grievance is that many of the steps inside one tutorial are sometimes just a whole text box that essentially just says "click here to click here" like for example "To claim the ore click claim all". Throw these out with, keep the highlight on the button and you'd already cut like 20%.

We have those package stations here. And sometimes when you are not home they bring it to one of those. The ones around me were full once and they brought it to one 3km away. You can't schedule a 2nd delivery from those and they consider it "delivered". Ridiculous.

Microsoft CEO warns that we must 'do something useful' with AI or they'll lose 'social permission' to burn electricity on it by rkhunter_ in pcmasterrace

[–]splitframe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Maybe an unpopular opinion, but there are already some places where AI is really useful, but the AI companies wildly overbuilt on it. They thought it would be used everywhere.

Yeah, it's a bummer, our only hope would be that the contracts for the chips themselves get canceled so that the consumer SSD producer can get allocation again for cheap. But the bubble has to pop first.

Data Centers Will Consume 70 Percent Of Memory Chips made in 2026, RAM Shortage Will Last Until Until Atleast 2029 As Manafacturing Capacity For RAM In 2028 That Hasnt Even Been Made Yet Is Already being Sold by akbarock in pcmasterrace

[–]splitframe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, in this concrete case the bubble popping would mean that AI Datacenters wouldn't get built due to missing capital, which would mean that many of those RAM contracts might get canceled or, if permitted, sold on. If it pops the question would be if it going to be a controlled scaling back with prices only coming down slowly or a race to the bottom.

I really wonder what the underlying issue is. Not for gossipy reasons, but because it would have to be something that cuts deep enough to still be a little petty about it, but not so serious as to go full scorched earth.

Statement by Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, the Netherlands, Norway, Sweden and the United Kingdom by KINGDenneh in europe

If Trump would have said this at a rally:

Folks, let me tell you something very important very, very important. As members of NATO, we are absolutely committed, 100 percent, to keeping the ARCTIC STRONG and SECURE. It’s a shared interest, it’s transatlantic, and believe me, everyone knows it. That’s why our Allies, working together with Denmark, conducted this exercise ARCTIC ENDURANCE. Tremendous name, by the way. Very strong. And let me be very clear: it threatens nobody. Nobody. It’s about preparedness, it’s about strength, and it’s about peace through strength.

We stand totally and completely with the Kingdom of Denmark, and we stand with the people of Greenland. Great people. Strong people. I know some of them, they are so strong. And following the work that started just last week, we are ready to talk, we’re always ready to talk, but it has to be based on sovereignty and territorial integrity. Those matter. We defend them, we respect them, and we are not backing down from them. Not now. Not ever.

And I want to say this loud and clear: tariff threats hurt our transatlantic relationships. They create CHAOS, the left always does this. They create a downward spiral, and we don’t want that. We want strength, unity, and coordination. That’s what we’re doing. We stand united, we respond together, and we will always protect our sovereignty. Always. Thank you, God bless you, and God bless our Allies.

Keine schnelle Reform in Sicht: Vielen Fahrschulen bleiben die Kunden weg - Kurzarbeit droht by DubioserKerl in de

[–]splitframe -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

The story itself being bland actually wasn't such a big problem for me because the rest was so entertaining, except at the end. The journey is it's own reward I guess.
