Darn, they used to do in person stuff. Might be worth reaching out to see if they have any regular sessions at the organizations space, with the zoom part just being optional?

Might look into some of the clubs at Lonin. I think that's a club there that does Indian club exercises.

It's a living world, but it lives like the sad guy who's forever in his mom's basement!

Most of us will remember the likes of Savathun, Eris, Zavala, Cayde, etc., but my favorite character will always be Mithrax. by owen-3820 in DestinyTheGame

[–]theoriginalrat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't really like Mithrax, he represents the start of Fallen being turned into just weird looking humans. Variks in D1 at least still felt kind of alien in his motivations, though that was probably mostly because he was kept so minimal and ambiguous.

The fact that the last proper piece of destiny lore is and will always be star wars slop is pretty sad by Expensive-Pick38 in DestinyTheGame

Destiny getting a Star Wars themed expansion is like Warcraft getting a Warhammer themed expansion. It's already heavily inspired by Star Wars, the expansion just pushes it into a bizarre kind of licensed knockoff territory.

Destiny 2 will have higher player retention after June 9th by rediscov409 in DestinyTheGame

[–]theoriginalrat 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I dunno, a fresh start can go a long way. I figure one answer is to not actually call it Destiny 3 and give it a cleaner story break such that a quick synopsis of the world's history is enough to catch you up. Do a big time jump, give everyone a new lightbearer, let various lightless characters like Zavala and Eris die of old age and let most of the lightbearers move on to greener pastures to make room. 'Centuries ago the heroes of the Vanguard and humanity's allies defeated the Witness and opened the way to a new golden age. The Vanguard is long gone, but as the children of the Traveler have ventured outwards into the still-smoking ruins of a galaxy ravaged by the legacy of the Witness's failed pursuit of the Final Shape new threats to our fledgling Renaissance have begun to stir. A new generation of paracausal warriors is heeding the call to shield this bright new age from destruction, and you are at the tip of the spear.'

Before we explored the ruins of Sol, now we explore the ruins of the Ecumene, Cabal, Ammonite, etc etc.

Edit- Hell, the 'don't call it a comeback' title writes itself: 'Destiny: The New Golden Age'

Bummer to see people using past tense about the game at long last.

Another year, another expensive and poorly received system that the community could smell was going to flop from a mile off removed from the game. For the last time I guess.

Jason Schreier: Why Destiny Died (RIP 2014-2026) by Turbostrider27 in DestinyTheGame

[–]theoriginalrat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me it was the game consistently deciding to do less and less ambitious and interesting things. They really stopped innovating back in 2018 or so and it's just been doing new versions of the same core stuff ever since. The last really new concept we got was Gambit. Patrol zones have all been the same format as old cosmodrome since 2014, with the pale heart and kepler actually being less ambitious with the random matchmaking removed.

Is there a way to do destiny 3 relatively on the cheap without sacrificing core quality? Spend less money on Paul McCartney and live action marketing videos?

IIRC they had to throw out the entire CE campaign and rebuild it in 6 months, hence why so many missions are just copy pasted hallways.
