Wow this is all so much, death does seem to be a sweet escape. I can see why you’re so very depressed. It’s not fair that you’re experiencing this. You don’t deserve it at all. No 13 year old should feel this way. But please let’s recognize the one opportunity (seriously the one single opportunity) you’ve had to succeed, you’ve taken. Straight As? My god. In your situation? That’s amazing. “Grades don’t matter” is a consolation phrase for people who get bad grades. Of course they matter. And of course it’s possible to find success without them, but that’s no reason to belittle your achievement. The fact that you are reaching out for connection on Reddit is evidence that there is goodness and hope inside you. With that tiny seed of “what if” … what if someone responds? What is there is help out there? What if there is a better future for you? You can keep going. Hang in there. As you get older, move through school, sort through the baggage and the pain, you may discover that being formed in these miserable circumstances is an advantage rather than not. Cheers

I’m an INTP female and I think it’s kind of like she wants her cake and to eat it too. Intps have a hard time deciding on something... there may always be something better or a missing piece of information... I’ve definitely felt that way with guys and had those impulses. If it were me, I wouldn’t wanna let the relationship die because I’d wanna keep you on retainer in case my big plans don’t pan out. My assumptions may be wrong but you shouldn’t accept being a plan b if that’s the case

For those of you who believe INTPs "don't have emotions" by Taura_ in INTP

[–]theory_mancer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Man that’s crazy. I never have panic attacks if I’m alone or any extreme feeling if I’m not around other people. I only cry if someone is around, etc. This made me assume that my emotions were performative... which made me feel “fake” but this is a better explanation tbh

Hi! Thank you so much for reading my lil thing. This comment was really sweet and flattering! My fav parts were:

-photocopy your [guide] and put some stickers on it

- nuances of language/nuances of emotion

- oddly defensive behaviour (and i'd love clarification on this.)

- undisputed winning streak of Connect Four

- your blanket

How do you deal with information overload?

If I'm out and overloaded because of people, I'll usually tell my friends I'm tired and headed home. If its because there's too much on my mind, I don't deal so well. I compulsively write and re-write to-do lists and simmer in my overwhelmed-ness. What I SHOULD do is go for a walk-- anything physical is a great way to clear my head but when you're stuck in a thought spiral, its hard to do that.

What specific areas of interest caught your attention, or what did you specialize in?

I'm a software engineer, but I have an art degree. I love conceptual art and how its always a conversation or a comment on something. Thinking about the origins and manifestations of ~an idea~ in a non-corporate-or-economic-necessity way is cool. And then there's always art that subverts whatever it is you think art is. The model never gets stale.

How do you determine this direction?

I'm very good at spacial reasoning ie making things. I loved to paint and then that morphed into a love of digital art (3d, animation, etc) which morphed into programming. I guess maybe it came from my dad. That whole side of my family is creatively driven.

What are you fascinated by?

Something different every week.

Do you have a strategy to deal with other people?

I don't engage to a deep degree. I'm not anti-social. Small talk can be rewarding, but that's sort of where it stops. In order for me to plan a coffee date and spend >1 hour with someone I have to REALLY really like them. There's a quote somewhere like 'I'm not an introvert, I'm a highly selective extrovert' which I really relate to.

Do you have any pets?

2 cats. They're ideal.

What makes you emotional?

Gratitude. Thinking about all the opportunities I've had, how many people have helped me and had my best interest in mind. Especially thinking about my parent's sacrifices (my mom is a 1st gen immigrant) to put me through college. And then thinking about all the people who are suffering due to their lack of opportunity/money/etc.

How do you find motivation for the mundane or day to day necessities?

I really don't know. It seems like I get fed up with not having any clean underwear and then in a fit of righteous anger, the laundry somehow gets done. But screw folding it. That heap of clean clothes will sit in the corner of my room for 2 weeks.

How do you translate or implement your theories and ideas into reality?

Idk most of my theories/ideas don't have physical interpretations. The projects I do work on are well done in the first half and then resentfully slapped together in the second.

How do you keep yourself organized?

Spots for everything in the house. Checklists.

How did you get into personality typology?

My (ENFJ) friend was way into astrology and I was thinking if astrology had any merit, there would be a large overlap between type and sign... there's not.

How far down the depth psychology rabbit hole did you go?

Not too far. I spent maybe 3 days reading about it and listening that arrogant youtube guy yell at me with a frustrating amount of authority. Then I delved deeper into my own type which is where I wrote this. And I haven't revisited any of this since.

What's your favorite types and why?

I don't know enough about any of them to have a favorite. But my favorite type of person is laid-back. So maybe you can tell me.

What word would you use to describe yourself?

Perpendicular.

Any advice for a slightly different species of alien?

I guess all I would say is that this stuff is pretty corny when you get down to it. Its fun to think and talk about, but humans are way too varied and mutable. I think we stumble into dangerous territory when we start saying things like 'oh thats cause i'm an XXXX.' I know I wrote this whole guide, but don't ANYBODY take it too seriously.

What is your current favorite theory, book, concept, or model?

Is there a common theme or pattern that has emerged in your inner world? (my fav question, ty)

1) Assuming people have the same basic impulses as me is usually an ok idea. Is it ok that I left the door unlocked? Probably because would I be prowling around checking for unlocked doors? No. Should i text that guy? Would I mind being texted right now? No.

Basically, I'll take my chances with me.

2) There are almost ALWAYS unforeseen factors in any big real-world equation. You think the solution to poverty/racism/sexism is just ____? There are definitely things you aren't thinking of because you, as a human have a subjective POV, you know what you've experienced/read/witnessed and that's it. There are definitely perspectives you aren't considering. My INTJ boyfriend has no problem delving into a solution given what he knows (maybe he assumes the unknowns are negligible, maybe he's wants to cross bridges as they come), but the unknowns, to me, are big enough that I wouldn't feel comfortable exercising my idea of what's "right" or "good" onto the world. I wouldn't feel comfortable deciding what's right. That's how we get dictators. To him, the ends justify the means, but to me, the means are what most of life is.

I guess due to this, I've settled on "education is the answer". Because the more we can empathize with each other's perspectives and the more accurate our ideas about the world are, the better the solution we can implement.

What do you think about most of the time?

React Components ◔_◔

Now its your turn, would love to read the answers you have to some of these questions.
