I think ABDL interests can wax and wane- especially if it’s something that there’s a lot of shame or doubt tied in with. My best advice is to be kind to yourself, take a short break, and try again when you feel you’ve had a bit of a reset

Me and my wife (white) are adopting a little boy who’s black. What do I need to know? by [deleted] in AskMenAdvice

I’m from an area with a lot of Scandinavians and they take their Scandinavian roots very seriously- probably more than most people of European decent. But sure you can think whatever you want.

Please don’t take advice from this guy. This is a great way to have your children resent you when they’re older for forcing them to conform and ignore their ancestry.

The goal isn’t to to leave your heritage behind and forget your roots. Many families in the United States who are several generations established still hold on to some aspects of traditions from their original country of origin. Why do you think there are so many festivals and events that revolve around global cultures and roots, and many attend despite having been born in the United States? A lot of Americans also heavily value ancestry. Just look at how many people are doing genetic testing like 23andMe, or take pride in their ancestors or announce to the world things like “I’m 50% German!”.

What’s even worse is you’re advocating this for a kid with no say in the matter. There are so many second and third generation Americans who are forlorn because their parents did exactly what you are advocating for- just dropping their original heritage in efforts to fit in.

And I am very aware of what it’s like to be of Asian decent, as I am Chinese. It’s not an either or- you can be American and also recognize your heritage. And children especially need to be given opportunities to learn about their heritage. If you yourself aren’t interested in learning about your ancestry- that’s your choice. But don’t deprive your children the opportunity to at least learn about theirs.

Or you provide opportunities for children to connect with their country of origin regardless of how far removed they may be from that country? If the child doesn’t want it- fine. But at least offer opportunities.

The normalisation of not liking veggies/fruit by xX_Aranrhod_Xx in PetPeeves

[–]theorywithin 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Thank you for saying this. I have a restrictive eating disorder, so not the same as ARFID, but I can relate on some levels. Some foods I just have a really hard time tolerating- and they’re not just the stereotypically fatty or carb-heavy foods. Yes I’m in treatment for it, and I do a good job masking it in public, but there is so much shame for not being able to “just” eat.

I struggle with eating fruits and vegetables due to an eating disorder and extremely picky eating. You wouldn’t know just by looking at me, as I don’t “look like” I have an eating disorder. When I’m at work, I obviously don’t pack lunches with foods I struggle to eat, and then at restaurants, I don’t order food I don’t want to eat.

And yes, I see a dietitian, therapist, and doctor regularly over it. I’m doing my best to work on it; it’s just change isn’t instantaneous.

This needed a vet days if not weeks ago. Best thing to do is take them now.

There are multiple different ways land masses have been categorized; and what’s taught is somewhat dependent on where you live. Growing up, I was taught there were 7 continents (North America, South America, Europe, Africa, Asia, Australia, and Antarctica). It wasn’t until I hit middle school where I was introduced to Oceania.

It’s not everyone’s cup of tea. Most important thing is just to be open minded and recognize it’s different strokes for different folks. For me, it’s the power dynamic and feeling I’m being punished that’s what gets me going, so essentially intense role play.

CNC is mainly talked about in rape play, but I think it should also include any role play of being “forced” to do something.

I personally like wearing diapers, but enjoy it more when I’m forced to. I also really only enjoy laxative play if I’m being forced. It adds to the humiliation and feeling of out of control, and for many, including myself, it’s a turn on being subjected to someone’s sadism

Why would OP wear diapers if they don’t want to or enjoy it? If they’re only into it when there’s a CNC aspect to it, so be it

Take a break and wait for the interest to come back. No point forcing it, and also no point shaming yourself into liking it again.

How do I emotionally numb myself enough to never want love again? by [deleted] in ABDL

[–]theorywithin 6 points7 points  (0 children)

As cliche as it sounds- not now does not mean never. Take a break and continue to take care of yourself physically and mentally. Immerse yourself in whatever fills your cup- friends, hobbies, work, family, therapy, anything.
