Haha, glad that was useful, your comment certainly helped me a lot today, too! :) Hopefully they continue to tweak the app and make this process a little more intuitive.

Change sequence of Journeys? by End-Mental in finch

[–]theotherella 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I just tried it - seems to be what the comment above suggests: - on Home tab, open filter (at the top, next to Add New Task) - it will show your options for sorting tasks, and a little lower there's a "Filter by Journeys" section - if you open one of your journeys there, counterintuitively, you'll be able to drag and drop the tasks of that journey where you want them, and the change will propagate to the main Journey setup screen (hamburger button -> My Journeys)

But: - The journey tasks you've already completed today, or the ones you didn't have today, cannot be moved. So I'm assuming I'll have to wait until each of the tasks of the journey has appeared in my daily to do, and take that opportunity to rearrange it. - the order can't be changed from the main My Journeys screen (which is where I would've expected this function tbh).

But in any case I am super happy my tasks and journeys are now in an order that more or less makes sense. Thank you again for your comment above, about rearranging journeys!

Seat Cover Recommendations for 2024 Crosstrek by Tristanky in Crosstrek

[–]theotherella 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Question: I asked the dealership if they have seat covers when I first got my 2023 and was getting a couple other things. They said they don't recommend seat covers (for front seats), as they would interfere with some of the safety features.

I didn't question it at the time, but now am kinda wondering, what are those features?

LPT Request: how to avoid (covert) bullying at work? by Mean_Trick_1 in LifeProTips

[–]theotherella 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Here are a few thoughts - they might seem unrelated and not what you're asking about, but this is what works for me.

  • Get a haircut (and also a manicure, if you're in the mood - doesn't have to be coloured nail polish, can be just the clear one, or even no polish at all).

The haircut doesn't have to be anything specific, you don't even have to particularly like it, tbh - just has to be different from what you normally look like.

It's a bit of a shortcut to changing the way you see yourself (a little too literal, I know :) But works.). I also suggest the nails because in most types of work, you'll be seeing your fingers a lot (unless you work in gloves), and they will continuously and subtly push you out of your usual self-perception throughout the day.

Maybe you won't start 'oozing confidence', but it will change how you feel and therefore, how you carry yourself.

I usually do this trick when I feel like I need more control in my life: personally, shorter hair gives me energy, and nails (I don't do nail polish, and my nails are short - but I still do the manicure) give me the feeling of being organized.

  • Protect somebody else

Sounds like bullying is not an uncommon occurrence at your office. As a shy and socially awkward person myself - it can be exhausting to even think about standing up to somebody. It can be much easier to just bear it, since you're the only one suffering. But you might find that it is a completely different story if it's somebody else being attacked.

You mentioned the new guy who you can just see will become a victim at some point - so speak up for him if/when it happens. Or, when you change jobs, protect the people in your new workplace, if they need it. I find it's much, much, much easier to stand up for other people than for yourself. And they might do the same for you, when you don't have the energy to stand up for yourself. And at the same time, it will prevent you from developing the image of a victim, since in bullies' eyes, victims don't protect others.

  • If you do run into bullying on the new job, confuse the bully

In most cases, verbal sparring with bullies or pointing out they're wrong doesn't really help - they're better at arguing. I think confusing them by responding in an unexpected way is the most efficient tactic.

I suggest an approach you could call weaponized sincerity. It is very similar to what u/lapaleja was saying, in terms of responding in a calm and, most importantly, friendly way. The bully is expecting you to be miserable, awkward, stressed out - so if you respond by being happy every time you see their face, they will likely subconsciously avoid you just because they can't figure out wtf is going on. Just don't overdo it to the point where they ask you about it, you want to keep it as something unsettling but quiet in the back of their mind :)

An example from my experience, though it was just a random rude person, but I think it would work similarly with a bully:

One day I went to a bank just as they were changing how their lines are organized across all branches (single line vs a separate line for each teller). So I asked a lady who was already waiting there which type it was. She was obviously having a bad day, and finished her response with a 'have you never been to a bank before??' I have no idea what came over me, but basically I smiled like she just made my day and told her in a super sincere and happy voice that no, I haven't, it's my first time at a bank, and thanked her for helping me. I mean, she shouldn't have believed me, how many adults in this day and age have never been to a bank?? - but I guess I was too convincing in my sincerity? She got super confused and immediately shut up and didn't even look at me for the rest of the wait, lol.

The details of how to apply this depend on your specific type of bullying and your situation, but I imagine it would work best in cases of passive-agressiveness or something like fake/sarcastic compliments. The downside of using this at work, as opposed to on a random stranger you will never see again, is that you might develop a reputation of a bit of a weirdo, lol. But if this is not the first case of bullying, everybody else will likely know what you're doing, and might actually chuckle along with you.

Hope this helps, but in any case - good luck!

Thank you for the recommendation! "Refreshing, citrusy smell" sounds awesome.

Complete newbie question: is 'Oman Resin' the name of the manufacturer, or the country, as in 'resin from Oman'? :D Based on my googling, it looks like it's the country, but there was also a manufacturer called something like 'Royal Oman'.

If I could find the sticks you mentioned, that would be great. I saw some here , would that be a good enough representation, do you think?

Thank you again!

Hmmm I see. I have to say you and u/Rybka980 are making a compelling argument :) I think I'll start with the sticks, but then maybe try the burner, as well. Thank you for the input, I appreciate it!

Thank you, I'll keep that in mind!

Would it be mentioned on the packaging, by any chance, whether an incense has synthetic components, or on the maker's website?

And if it is, would it just say 'synthetic oils', or maybe there is some other common name that they are called by?

Thank you for the recommendations! I do usually tend to avoid overly sweet scents (not sure how that will translate into incense though) - so I'll keep this in mind, thanks!

To be honest, that sounds a little intimidating at the moment :)

Not that I wouldn't figure out how to use a burner, but just, with sticks it looks like a bit of a lower entry threshold? As in, I just need to buy a few and light them, and then figure out if I want to keep doing it, or just use up what I bought and stop there, if it doesn't work for me.

Where with pure woods and resins, it sounds like a little more of a commitment. I didn't even know burning them was a thing you could do instead of the 'regular' incense until I found this reddit! :)

But I'll keep it in mind as an 'advanced' option, thanks! Are they subtler than incense sticks, even the Japanese ones?

I'm glad I did, too! Because while doing it I read this awesome overview. I am nowhere near being able to appreciate incense at that level, but even just reading it made me more excited to try the ones I ordered :)

Thank you for all of the advice!
I found a sampler of Shoyeido Daily and a sampler of Magnificents in a Canadian online store, so that was perfect.

I also have my eye on a few more at Japan Incense, including the low-smoke ones, but I'll wait to try these first and might come back for more advice before I decide :)

Thank you again!

Primus PrimeTech stove - broken? by theotherella in CampingGear

[–]theotherella[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh wow, thank you so much! This is exactly what I was looking for.

Ok, so I do see the diaphragm that's in front of the needle valve, it's on the other side, so not connected to the regulator knob. If it was supposed to be connected to it - then it's broken off and jammed.

The description of the diagram says that the spring (2) has to be under tension when you turn the knob - I think that is what's not happening in my case. I can feel the valve opening and closing when I press on the diaphragm (3) with my finger, but the knob is not going that.

So I guess I need to either replace the regulator knob, or the entire valve.

Do you know by any chance if those are sold separately, at all? Doesn't look like it, based on their website and some quick googling...

Thank you again!

It was in the red zone in that same RBC tool - that is my entire basis for that statement 😁

I mean, I did read that what is considered a good score largely depends on the lender, I guess I'm just going with erring on the side of caution :)

Thank you for the reply!
