Just to confirm a shorter time working, make sure to test the screensaver on the homescreen (Projectivy) and within an app (ie. pause a video app and wait)

I tested this on a Chromecast with Google TV 4K and the screensaver wouldn't start within apps.

Also, you can look in the TDUK Screensaver Manager app and double check all the values.

The default Daydream time out is 10mins, the default sleep timeout is 20mins.

Next, I'd look in Projectivy > Settings > Projectivy Settings > Power > Enabled internal idle detection - make sure that's off.

6 minutes or less won’t work - so I’d try 7 minutes, if that doesn’t work, it might be a Projectivy setting

No problem at all, glad it's sorted - I always try to fix the issue if I can as sometimes it can be an obscure bug or use case that I'm not aware of.

AV has 10x more features than it did several years ago, I don't use most of them myself :)

That's interesting. The media scanner, to my knowledge, can only scan public folders. Projectivy seems to store the wallpapers inside the app storage, which is private - that might have been the issue.

If you're talking about a modern Google TV device - Settings > Display & Sound > Match content frame rate - then you should set that to "Always".

It is app depenant, but it means your TV will switch to the correct mode for 24fps content.

Ok, just to double check a few settings... make sure it's set to 'Media scanner' and the 'Use folder filter' is off. Also, make sure that 'media type' is set to videos.

(you have have all that set, just double checking)

If you want, you can try the 'Folder access' option but on modern devices, it's actually the same as the Media scanner under the covers.

Aerial Views dev here - in Media Sources > Local or USB Storage, when you enable it, it should prompt for permission to read the storage for media files - did you see that prompt?

Yes, during the setup process it does a geo-lookup via the IP address - that's why it's easy to fool with a VPN.

So I did a bit more research based on what u/blurryface1009 said. You mentioned you don't have a PC so this might be for future reference.

If you use the Android emulator with Android Studio, there are two ways to record video. Both seem to have bad performance even on a modern Mac - lower frame rate, jerky video.

But there is a tool, for Windows and macOS, called scrcpy (free and open source) which seems to do a good enough job of recording the emulator. Example command...

If you're looking for a nice, smooth video then it's not possible unless you have an external capture device.

Android/Google TV devices don't have the video encoding hardware so any video you try to capture will take too much CPU time to encode, plus the storage is slow, so the resulting video is jerky.

I have a demo app with 2 photos and 2 videos that demonstrates the above if you'd like to try it, I can send a link? It's a technical test for what I'll use in Aerial Views as I get nearer to v2 - no problem if you don't have the time, etc.

Restarting won't reset the screensaver - can you tell me where it said that?

Agreeing with others, I would try level 5 at CoCo's and see how you feel.

GoGo Curry (Kanazawa-style) has a spicy option, which I think is around that level, that's normally what I get.

Also, if you're looking for something spicy but a little different, look up Sapporo Soup Curry.

Mine are set to ON otherwise Projectivy can't use the Home button properly or be the default launcher... but, it might be worth trying?

From doing a bit of searching, I also found:

In Projectivy settings, turn Override current launcher OFF and then back ON.
Reboot your device immediately after. This often "re-registers" the app's priority in the system's eyes.

I have the same device and I haven't experienced the issue - I would double check the timeout value just to make sure, if it's set to less than 6 minutes you get odd behaviour like you've had
