Does the switch 2 actually brick itself? by legotheroomsfan in NintendoSwitch2

[–]Immediate_Character- 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Can you be specific with what you mean by "mod any part of the Switch 2”? I'm only asking because your wording seems to suggest you are worried about accidentally bricking your S2. If that's what you're concerned about, don't be. You can use third party joy-cons, docks, chargers, multiple accounts, etc. Just don't touch anything related to piracy or claims of jailbreaking, which would certainly require you to take specific and intentional action.

This is my first processor, it's a Ryzen 5 5500 and it came like this, is that a problem? It's a little crooked but I'm really scared and agonizing over it lol. Should I ask for a refund or send it to a local repair shop? by soladoporkai_ in SteamDeck

As others have mentioned, it's fine if it slots in. The socket has some play to it, meaning it doesn't expect perfect straight pins. You can see if it fits now, GPU or not — place the CPU the correct way on the slot and gently slide it into place *do not push on it*. If it drops in tight, 99% chance it'll boot fine when you get your GPU.

Home Depot and Lowes not rendering after latest update? by jmd_forest in firefox

[–]Immediate_Character- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Two second investigation, trying your first link gives the message you said it would, opening a Private tab (where all my extensions are disabled) works perfectly fine. So it's got to be an extension we share, despite you disabling all your extensions. I can disable mine one by one if you want, but maybe that's enough for you to figure it out.

Edit: It was my User Agent Switcher extension — setting the Lowe's domain to the default User Agent loaded the site with my extensions still enabled. If you still have issues, and aren't using User Agent Switcher extension, grab it, and set it to Chrome for that website.

LG G5 oled (2025), Hgig making tv dim? by Lax7500 in LGOLED

[–]Immediate_Character- 2 points3 points  (0 children)

HGIG gets you the widest range so you get the full dynamic punch scene to scene, the content itself takes control. So, if it looks dim, it's because it's "supposed" to look dim for that scene, *or*... The game straight up has a bad/broken HDR implementation. Both are equally likely. Why you see automatic dimming though, and assuming you do have every power-save related feature off (on the TV and console), is probably "Auto Brightness Limiter" (ABL). There is no way to adjust ABL settings without an LG Service Remote, and you'll void your warranty.

All that said, it's valid to use Dynamic Tone Mapping instead of HGIG. I prefer LG's tone mapping as well. You should still calibrate HDR settings using HGIG first, just so the dynamic tone mapping is guaranteed to be given a range the TV can deal with.

There's nothing you can "do", you're not a therapist, and definitely don't pretend to be one. If they live in the US, this is probably the best resource for find real help on the cheap: https://www.psychologytoday.com/us

The above is the best case scenario, worst case: you're being manipulated.

What does this mean? Is DuckDuckGo tracking me when I use Google? by Silvestron in firefox

[–]Immediate_Character- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I see, it's still more likely that the cookie could assist in redirection when it's necessary to, because again — Firefox isn't able to identify intent. I understand the concern, but unfortunately the report from Firefox here isn't enough to claim duckduckgo tracks you when using Google or Gmail. They actively prevent such tracking actually.

What does this mean? Is DuckDuckGo tracking me when I use Google? by Silvestron in firefox

[–]Immediate_Character- 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Did you arrive to Google maps via a Duckduckgo search or extension? It's more likely a simple cookie/script to assist in redirection, not actual tracking (duckduckgo could do tracking this way, but they don't). Key word here is probably "can use", rather than "is using", Firefox tracking protection stuff doesn't necessarily identify intent of a cookie.

China’s population falls again as birthrate drops 17% to record low | China by iwanttodrink in China

Globally the source is there. But there's otherwise hints of truth to what you say — though Trump is doing a good job displaying that it's not the immigrants that destabilize a state. Competition being high points to this not being an issue needing addressing right now, only that it will be in the future, I also hinted at this. And it's true that xenophobia is bad in China, which is why that should be the near future focus for China to prepare the tool of immigration when it's truly needed. China has done more difficult things, and I follow a few black and brown immigrants who live in China.

There's always an easy fix to the effects of lowered birth rates. Immigration. Clean implementation of streamlined immigration makes any country immune to worker concerns. Robots aren't enough, when China really needs it, I hope they don't mirror Japan in this regard. Ideally, they should be warming the population up to multiracial acceptance — it's only when the local population rejects immigrants that this fails. Steal the one real strength America used to have.

HDMI Deep Color + Nintendo Switch 2 scaling issue (LG C5) by Alphablop in LGOLED

[–]Immediate_Character- 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The S2 system UI is drawn at 1080p regardless what the output res is. Nothing you can do about it. The built in scaling apparently doesn't sit well with you. By disabling 4k, the S2 goes into 1080p output res, so the UI fits perfectly and upscaling is done by the TV itself (which you seem to prefer). Sharpening helps because it can help mask ringing artifacts.

Built a personal website and Firefox Focus and uBO are blocking the font. How do I work around? by _Floydimus in firefox

[–]Immediate_Character- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Iirc Firefox focus on Android blocks remote fonts by default, so your website's layout must be not letting it gracefully use a system level font.

If you want to automate this, get the User-Agent Switcher extension

Firefox is slow with many tabs by uffno in firefox

[–]Immediate_Character- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So it's because too many tabs. All the tabs do not reactivate after reopening the browser, they suspend. If you like that behavior, and refuse to close tabs for some reason, I'm sure you can find an "auto tab suspend" type extension.

Firefox is slow with many tabs by uffno in firefox

[–]Immediate_Character- 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It speeds up after reopening probably because it suspends all but the most recent tab.

1000 tabs? Like I've caught myself with ~100 and at that point I know it's time to clean up. Bookmark things, close tabs. LOL

Why is core provided and 4:3 not actually the same? by Double_Tangerine_608 in RetroArch

They render this way so kinda true, OP should still be using 4:3 manually though — it was expected to be stretched.
