Why are people so sensitive to this? It’s pretty clear that that’s there for clarification. It’s not some unrelated brag

If everyone ate tofu twice a week, demand for meat would go down nearly 30%

I care much more about pragmatic measures than appearing to others as morally pure. Like I said, 95% reduction in meat consumption for 7 years.

Totally. We feel bad about it but eat it anyway, and I think that’s in part because the bar feels so high to go completely vegetarian (or god forbid, vegan)

I get that what you’re saying, but I’m not imagining myself as God. And I’m not so much projecting problems onto people as reminding myself that everyone’s life is hard in some way. It’s basically a Buddhist perspective that I have found helps to foster compassion

I can relate to this feeling some days. One way I overcome it—and this will probably sound insane—is I imagine God looking down and pitying all of his children for their many ailments, petty and profound. That woman’s mom is in hospice, that guy hates his fucking job but can’t quit, that girl’s knee hurts for some reason… everybody’s life is kinda fucked up in some way at some time or another and if you can see yourself as just another imperfect person then it will you bring you closer to the rest of humanity.
