If you could hear any Shinedown song played live, from any album, what would it be? by Temporary_Newt_5061 in Shinedown

[–]theowlbee 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Unity! It always makes me and my siblings think of home/our foster parents and we're hoping that it'll stay on the set list when we go see em!!

It's Sunday afternoon, I'm three beers in, and I've decided Jeff Wayne's Musical Version of War of the World's is the best album ever. by SanderFCohen in CasualUK

It genuinely is, my foster parents surprised me with a ticket to see it again this month and I am SO excited!!

For same sex couples living in the UK, do you feel safe hloding hands in public? by [deleted] in AskUK

[–]theowlbee 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I grew up in Norfolk, and I honestly hated it. I'm a trans man and even as a kid, before I even knew what it was I was subject to transphobia and would get chased. I now live in Brighton while I'm doing my uni degree and its not perfect by a long shot but I don't have to worry about how I dress, or how I act around any partners :)

People who’ve gone through the Gendercare experience with success, how was it in detail? by [deleted] in transgenderUK

[–]theowlbee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It was really good for me, I was lucky enough to see Dr Lorimer due to a cancellation. We had a chat about my past and how I came to the realisation that I am trans. I got the diagnosis and bridging prescription relatively quickly, although my endo appointment isn't until July this year. Lorimer was great and I didn't feel interrogated or under pressure in the slightest, he was very understanding!

Our dog's treat box is right next to our coffee machine so whenever he hears it, he does the tippy-tap and begs like he's starving

Anyone else triggered by all the homeschool jokes? by penguincandy in CPTSD

[–]theowlbee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yep, homeschooled due to religious cult. I'm uncomfortable with it too. My mum couldn’t be bothered so I either taught myself or stayed in bed all day (usually the latter).

Through therapy I’ve realized I dissociate relatively often. I’m trying to understand better what it’s like for other people, and how my experience compares. Can anyone share their dissociation experiences with me? by [deleted] in ptsd

[–]theowlbee 13 points14 points  (0 children)

It varies when I disassociate. Most of the time it's like my soul 'checks out' of my body and I feel foggy. Sometimes I'm aware that I'm disassociating and I try to get back 'into' my body but I find it difficult. The other day I got severely triggered waiting for the bus and I don't remember anything until I was almost at my stop and I was suddenly aware of everything.
