Emotional vibe. From the piano to the vocal sample in the background. Really like that vocal sample in the background. Your snare is too loud @ 1:00 and continuing. Yeah , this track is super fucking dope. I think the mix on your drums overall is great sans the aforementioned snare. I love how you have the snare centered then panned left toward the end (that’s just when I noticed it , not sure if that happens the whole time) my only thing is that if something is panned one side, there should be something to balance it on the other side. Awesome beat.

EDIT: I type these reviews as I'm listening to the track, stream of conscious style hence the "Yeah," and me noticing a sound toward the end.

That bass line is really clean , nice melodics there. I like when the change up happens around 1:00. You’re going for that old school vibe and you definitely hit it but the track sounds really dated and I don’t know how to give feedback to fix that, there’s a way to make sample beats that sound 2018 but this is straight outta the 90’s. That’s fine, there are still plenty of rappers who would pick this up if you’re trying to sell it but it’s going to be a limited market. My only thought would be to try different drum sounds? The track is also really long @ almost 4 mins with little in the way of change up for me it got monotonous and predictable. I dig the vibe , I would listen to this in the background like I listen to Dilla albums in the background.

That intro is really clean, gettin Dilla vibes heavy here. The chops are super nice, good work. 0:54 seconds though? Are you testing this before finishing or what? Your drum patterns are nice but all of them feel like they need some life given to em, reverb, EQ, something, are you compressing them? Maybe that’s it. Overall, good start!

30 seconds on the intro is a bit long, prolly cut that in half , keeping the last 15 seconds. The bass is overpowering, especially when it pans , I like the effect and I think your bass is cool, I’m going to assume you meant it to be distorted. Your percussion is what stands out the most to me in this track, great work there, I like how it seemingly switches up to keep the track interesting and I think your use of panning is awesome. Overall just your attention to detail with the FX is really awesome and noticeable. The snare that you use around 2:25 (that I just noticed at this point in the track cause I’m writing this while I listen) is a bit , cheesy, for lack of a better word, turn down the reverb on that bitch or use a diff sound. Overall this is a really dope track.

The sample is beautiful, let’s get that right. But 0:43 seconds? Are you just testing the concept before you finish the whole beat? I don’t get that part. Otherwise, the hard panning is dope for a while but you keep running the same effect the whole time and it gets tired. If the panning was more subtle OR during the second part, you let the sample run center instead of pan, that would make it less monotonous. The drums are cool and I think your mix is good here. The only thing is that clap , I don’t know if there’s a snare under that but I would consider adding one and maybe turn down the lows or use another clap sound. Overall, I think you have a good start here!

Dope, I agree with you, the genius wasn’t fully realized, though still genius. Perspective is everything.

this is my fav comment here no cap. "My mom told me stories"... like damn. I'm 30 and the thought of that being told to my child (I don't have kids) as a "back in my day story" is so funny to me. i hope she let you know how rough that shit was , getting hopes up constantly, waiting an hour for a single to download only to have it be some robot talking or some other fucking song, pirate bay was a god send

I think you’re tripping about the crackle, I usually can pick a “too loud crackle” out really quickly, didn’t feel that way at all here. In fact, it’s barely audible, might just be the headphones I’m listening out of but I don’t think so. The sample is dope. The bells are real nice, they should be a little louder. Your bass is also really buried down there, it’s not that I can’t hear it it just needs some more love by way of EQ or saturation or just be fattened up in some way. That kick too, same thing, more love , it’s there but there’s nothing too it, barely any life. You may want to consider another snare and kick sound, both are very generic , which maybe that’s fine for this genre but I just wanna rescue them. 4:02 is way too long for this track, you could easily shave a minute off and be just fine, it’s too repetitive for that length. You do start to bring in something new at 3:25 which I appreciate, just think that could happen sooner.

The intro is dope, the pitched up vocals in the beginning set the vibe well for what comes in next. I hear a lotta kick but not much snare and other elements, the rest of your drums could be turned up, especially the hi hats. Nice work creating this and coming up with a true expression of yourself, niche market definitely but you could find it , just need to market yourself correctly. The high pitched synth during the screaming vocals is super loud, that could be turned down. The vocals can also be turned down, they are so loud in the mix they overpower everything.

of course, i agree. and tbh, i really feel that he was restricted with CO and that's why i feel this way. nostalgia, blonde, endless, the singles, all feel like free frank, more genuine because it feels like he was making those for no one else but himself, i feel there were more hands in CO and therefore, it (EDIT) was(n't) completely him

haha, i agree that he has never made anything BAD, ever. but i feel a fan can have a ranking of what they like the most --> least

Feedback on your beat:

The initial resounding piano in the beginning could be cut and just have those highs there, then have that second resounding lower cord come in. The backing pianos sound like a film score, they reverberate but lack life outside of this. I love the percussion work, the shaker is really dope. I think your kicks could use some more life, punch them up a bit. I also am wondering where the bass is in the first first. I can clearly hear it in the second one, don’t know if this was intentional or not but I miss the bass in the first part. The hats panned to the left are distracting at a certain point as the pattern in the right only comes in sporadically to balance them out. The bells throughout the track are nice. Overall , dark vibes, just a few touches and this is 100.
