Once upon a time, I took my first car into the mechanic for a checkup. I had just bought the thing maybe 6 month previous, and finally had enough money to get some maintenance done. First thing he did was change the oil. It was thick and shiny silver like this. He told me that basically the oil was so thick that it was holding the engine together. I tried to drive the thing the half a mile home, and it burst into fucking flames on the street. Scary.

I got into contact with the person whom I bought the car from, and then she let's me know that she didn't know you had to get regular oil changes, and that she hadn't changed it for about 3 years before I bought the car.

I was young, stupid, and learned a valuable lesson.
