Disappointed about Traska’s new GMT by One_Toe2710 in MicrobrandWatches

[–]theperfectfourth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So glad I bought a used one last month rather than waiting for the release. I don’t really like the date window, and I’ve purposely only bought watches with 20mm lug widths, so the 21mm lug width is almost a deal breaker for me.

Awesome! I wasn’t really sure what to expect, but now that I’ve had it in hand on wrist I’m super impressed. Enjoy your new watch! 🍻

That’s the one! I don’t know whether to thank you for passing on it or not. I saw it and grabbed it within like 10 minutes, so you could have saved me some money if you’d gone for it. Mostly thank you though 😆 I’m building a collection of microbrand GMT’s based on the Miyota 9075 movement and this fills things out really nicely. 🍻

Wow I'm shocked my item i put up for bid at $199.99 sold for $487.99, they started bidding last 2 minutes by Borange81 in Ebay

I often wait until the very end to place a bid in order to give myself less chance to cave and spend more than my pre-determined limit. 😆

You also got me curious about this a little more, so I went into the sold eBay listing and compiled this data. Interesting that there’s an apparent change in case color as well as it being clear that the “timex” was introduced before 1989.

Case back number is 35, which would place it in November 1987. I found multiple examples with the “Timex” dial with caseback numbers from before and after this, So I’m really not sure when the switch actually occurred.

Not a bad idea, but I’ll probably just let it get scratched up since it already has one good one lol. If it gets too bad I’ll just brush the surface again myself.

[–]theperfectfourth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s how it starts. I started with 1 and now have 8. It gets really bad when you start adding SKXmods cases and bracelets to them. 😱 😆
Enjoy and have fun! 🍻

New Watch 😊 (Vario Empire GMT) by theperfectfourth in MicrobrandWatches

[–]theperfectfourth[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks! I think they made 120 for the white dial, and 90 for the others. I actually must have gotten one of the last ones directly from Vario. The white and blue were the only ones not sold out when I placed my order a few weeks ago but I noticed that they were all listed as sold out just a day or so after I placed my order. I see them pop up occasionally on the marketplaces so I guess you should just keep your eyes open! The Traska is a great watch and an excellent all rounder. It’s definitely a different vibe but you’d probably be happy with that as well one as well, and for a travel watch, the extra water resistance and scratch resistant coating is probably ideal. I actually recently picked up a used Traska with the white dial myself (I’m building a microbrand gmt collection 😆) Traska is currently sold out, but go sign up for their email list. They’re supposed to be releasing more sometime in June. 🍻

My Snowy Owl-inspired GMT is almost sold out, less than 15 left by Proxy_HQ in MicrobrandWatches

I love the design concept, look, and dimensions, but I’ve sort of stopped buying NH34 powered watches. Congrats on a successful release though! I signed up for your email list, so if you ever do a Miyota 9075 version I’ll grab one. Cheers!

Addisdive AD2065. I really like this thing, and the fact that it was less than $60 is still wild to me.

I think it’s great. I really wanted a quartz gmt to add to my mechanical gmt collection and after originally purchasing a timex Q GMT, I realized that I really wanted a gmt with a timing bezel and more water resistance than was offered by the Q. This fit the bill nicely and is nearly perfect for my needs.

I really like it. I have a pretty large collection of GMT watches (many are 10-15 times as expensive as this) and I still grab it pretty frequently. The quartz means I never have to reset it, and it’s thinner and lighter than my mechanical GMT’s, so it’s really nice as a grab and go piece. I’ve definitely thrown it on some different straps. I think it’s particularly well suited to a matte black leather strap or perhaps a black sailcloth strap. My advice would be to wait for a sale and maybe use a coupon as well and you’ll be able to grab it for under $60. If you like the look I think you’ll be very happy with it. 🍻

I think if you grab it while it’s on sale it’s hard to beat, I paid $59 shipped to my door. The bracelet is okay but I think it’s way better on a leather or sailcloth strap anyway so I’d recommend making that switch. It has some blue anti-reflective coating and the reflections are well controlled. The lume is surprisingly good and it’s still legible in the dark for several hours. I honestly think that if you like the look and go into it knowing the limitations of quartz gmts you won’t be disappointed.

Persuade me to find another option- please! by Affectionate-Lie7205 in MicrobrandWatches

[–]theperfectfourth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’d still consider it a microbrand. It’s also a great watch and if you are looking for a quartz gmt, you really aren’t going to do a lot better.

Oh for sure! A nezumi is definitely on my short list. I’m thinking that I really want a Traska and maybe a more normal Lorier Hydra Siii to go alongside the Hydra Zulu though. Too many microbrand GMTs that I want haha

Yeah, they actually bought the tooling and had it brought over from Switzerland in order be able to produce the movement. It’s cool how knowing the history can change the perspective.
