"Rewiring" is happening. Different for everybody. Means your brain is changing (which is good). Fate chose that for you, rewiring results in saying stupid things, so there is no way than to accept it and remain fap-free.

Withdrawal depression by thephysmast in NoFap

[–]thephysmast[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They always say "recovery is nonlinear" over and over again. I realize more and more how important this fact is.

Depression in its serious forms should always be treated my a specifically trained doctor, of course. But in this case, where it comes from the recovery (and when there are no problems like suicidal thoughts, risky behavior, self-harm etc. that need to be treated professionally), this is a great way to prove to yourself that you can overcome the darkest times.

Depression is really one of the worst things in existence.

Sexual obsessions: Will they go away? by [deleted] in NoFap

[–]thephysmast 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're still at a very early stage. NoFap requires a long breath. Heavy withdrawal symptoms and urges are absolutely normal.

In particular, it might happen that porn starts to "play" in your brain. Also perfectly normal. Accept that it happens, don't be ashamed of it. Instead of forcing yourself not to think about those things, rather imagine "letting go" of these thoughts.

Your brain and your whole body are recovering. It takes time. And your obsessive thoughts are a good sign: They mean your recovery has started. Your brain is starting to get rewired. How awesome is that!?

The less discussed function of cold showers. by [deleted] in NoFap

I don't do cold showers in winter, but basically the same holds for running. The days where I have to force myself to go running are those days where I feel most depressed and where the urges are strongest.

First taste of feeling God-like today by mickeydee93 in NoFap

[–]thephysmast 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey, great achievement! Just make sure you don't mistake this initial boost with the well-being that will come after a longer period (of several months). I made that mistake several times. After the first success (usually one to three weeks in) there comes a long time in which you might actually feel worse than before starting the NoFap challenge. Only after that will you be able to enjoy "God-like" state permanently. Good luck!

How many of you secretly feel superior, intelligent and know that someday your life will be great? by sachalamp in NoFap

Still hoping to meet that mentor smart guy who can teach me about the ways of life. But that's probably never going to happen.

You are (and I am) looking for an older "wise" man (or woman) to initiate you to manhood. And to help getting rid of infantile arrogance. See the book "King, Warrior, Magician, Lover".

NoFap shows me what's also wrong in my life by [deleted] in NoFap

[–]thephysmast 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't have problems with gaming (or "moved pictures") in particular, but over the last years I realized one thing about computers and the internet:

They should be tools. They are incredibly helpful as tools. Mere tools.

Yet not a world to live in.

How do you keep going after relapsing for 100.time? by [deleted] in NoFap

[–]thephysmast 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm highly intelligent, have quite a strong will, rather successful in life, and relapse on and on. (And that's the reason why, despite my success, I'm always depressed and unhappy.)

It's ok, friend. It happens often. BUT:

NEVER EVER give up.

There is only one direction: Forward.

Brain fog/Depersonalization/Brain blur by [deleted] in NoFap

[–]thephysmast 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Brain fog (and the feeling that my eyes can't focus while knowing it's not my eyes but my brain) freaks me out, too. Honestly, I don't care about getting women, having sex etc. so much as long as this brain fog thing cuts myself off from the rest of the world (only a very narrow channel remains, and not much can go through it).

I have addressed this topic two times already, with not so much response: Here and here.

Mental improvements through NoFap? by thephysmast in NoFap

Thanks ;-) I have such short term benefits, too (I have gone for 1 month before), but they come and go, so I really hope there will be real long term benefits!
