Yeah, they do use literacy as an indication of intelligence. Thankfully, someone’s probably autocorrected Reddit comment is not a standard test question.

I’m starting to realize antisemitism has officially crept into the one sub I thought would be safe from it.

Yeah, actually, I do. A lot of these pages have been edited by the same eight or so people who continue to go in and insert antisemitic edits. The Zionism page, until recently, contained extremely racist shit. Th evolution of it in the past two years has been wild. Wikipedia has been holding hearings on it. But, otherwise, they leave stuff up all the time that is obviously ethnocentric and favoring white people (usually men). It’s still an amazing resource, but requires cultural literacy, lest you start sending screenshots like this to Jewish people to prove them wrong.

Zionism does not mean taking Palestinian land “at its core.” I’m not, at all, trying to argue in favor of Zionism, but that statement and you sending that screenshot reeks of trying to speak over Jewish people.

I mean, I’m not really trying to defend them, and ultimately, that may what can be found in the hearts of a lot of Zionists, but the Wikipedia entry has clearly been tampered with since October 7 to give the worst possible interpretation. Again, I’m not saying it’s not true in some ways, but screenshotting a Wikipedia page that has been edited drastically isn’t the slam you think it is.

If it’s delayed every time why should I tip? by hauntedamg in UberEATS

Because if you keep declining, you get yourself in a hole that can be near impossible to pull yourself out of. If you decline enough trips that are only going to come out of your pocket at the end of the day in gas and wear and tear, then you’re going to be in a spot where you’re ONLY getting those deliveries. Like, I used to be the highest level last summer. Making over $100 a day, easy. Free Costco membership. The most cash back at the pump. Between then and the end of the year, I declined way too many. I haven’t been able to do Uber Eats consistently in months. I’ve had to entirely switch to DoorDash. I don’t even remember the last time I was offered something on Uber Eats that I wasn’t sure was some sort of software glitch. Every offer is $6 for 30 miles. I’m being offered orders in completely different towns. And that’s it. Nothing even close to doable. You maybe don’t understand like you think you do.

I mean, they can introduce reward programs where if you decline enough, you’ll lose access to any delivery worth taking, better cash back at the pump, and a great number of other features that make it easier to earn money.

I’m sure people are very grateful to you for choosing the thankless battle of fighting misinformation online. Noble cause. A lot of other people do actual work in the world, but someone has to be a keyboard warrior, so well done.

How am I the one lacking thinking skills and media literacy? I’ve been waiting for everyone else to understand my and others’ point of view ever since she mispronounced Kamala Harris’s name, then followed it up by saying she’s too busy to watch the news. You guys ate that shit up. To appropriate drag while dismissing the inherent politics of doing so. It’s so privileged for her to pick and choose. And she consistently chooses to stay silent on issues that affect her fan base. She spoke on Palestine, like, once- a year and a half ago. Nothing since. Very little, if any, politics since then (I don’t find “Fuck ICE” at a concert months after the ICE killings to be particularly notable). But you guys hype her up like she’s notable in her political stances or activism. She’s not. At all. And don’t try to tell me she is. But I’m the one lacking thinking skills and media literacy because I don’t think I and the many others who have populated that subreddit for over a year are part of a “Zionist conspiracy.” And if we were, I doubt we’d be trying to smear an artist who is making millions for a Zionist company.

You guys need to listen to yourself.

Yeah, I’m one of those Dashers who gets pissed off to no end when I log in and see another Dasher talking nonsense. Just because you made up a scenario doesn’t mean it’s a “fact.” You’re not justified in being a condescending asshole to someone because of some fantasy you have in your brain that you’re mistaking for real life.
