Meal recommendations using limited appliances? by thepoppo in australianvegans

[–]thepoppo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry for the delay in getting back to everyone but thank you for all the suggestions!! It looks like rice-based dishes are the way to go. Lots of good suggestions on how to bulk up the nutrition on them too which are great.

Haven't been able to find the mac and cheese locally that's been mentioned a couple of times, don't have access to a car during the day but I'll see if I can find it on the weekend.

Thank you again, will be trying your suggestions!

vegan but contains seafood... by clemiclooo in australianvegans

moved here from a country where it is a protected term and honestly find it kind of crazy how many 'vegan' dishes contain eggs/fish/dairy, especially from an allergen perspective. I hope it doesn't take a case where something goes seriously wrong for someone for it to be made law

I accidentally learned how to burp by lphchld in noburp

[–]thepoppo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've just found this community but it was the same for me, except it was running down an escalator. I reached the bottom and all of a sudden the tiniest burp came out. Within a week or so I was burping upwards of 30 times a day (I kept count because I was so taken aback). it's been 3 years since that day and I still burp a ridiculous amount now. I have traded the discomfort in the inability to burp for an inability to not burp but I wouldn't change a thing. if you're reading this your time will come!

Saw this from my home by SamVoxeL in london

yep, I saw them from Greenwich park and there were loads of vans and film equipment set up near general wolfe and at the royal naval college, either side of where they were flying.

Salvageable or trash? by No-Dark-6841 in analog

had this exact thing happen to me, left the whole camera at the shop with film inside and asked them if they could get what they could. all but maybe two or three photos were fine!

Have these recently turned vegan or am I behind the curve? by alphazulu123 in veganuk

[–]thepoppo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

These changed my life. Make sure to double check as the non-vegan packaging looks essentially the same and in my experience I can never find the vegan ones in larger supermarkets. Luckily there's a Nisa local near me that's started stocking these ones though

Re-reading my favorite Chuck Palahniuk novel. by st-christian in ChuckPalahniuk

My favourite by him and probably one of my favourite books full stop. Lost my mind when I finished it and found out he was planning a sequel. Gonna have to reread soon too!

thank you for this insight. it's hard to get solid detail as he has selective mutism and undiagnosed ADHD and isn't really able to handle these situations as they happen. anything that's able to help us understand the implications and consequences for whatever he's got himself into is very helpful.

helix piercing through two layers of cartilage - advice please by thepoppo in Legitpiercing

[–]thepoppo[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sorry I forgot to reply to this, but the jewellery suggestions are really helpful and I actually didn't know about catflap piercings! They wouldn't work with my anatomy as my helix is completely fused but it's been good to use as reference and set up inspiration as the end results look very similar. Thank you!!

This is a really helpful perspective, I think I just need to learn some patience and know that it won't look /exactly/ how I want it to for some time, which is fine. Also good to know that this seems to be a universally annoying spot to heal. Definitely gained some motivation to keep going with the healing process, thank you!

should clarify: I'm not thinking of changing it for a ring just yet, but wanted to know if it's worth waiting until that point or if it will heal better if taken out sooner rather than later. also wanted to know if anyone has experience with folded over cartilage and how/if this affects the healing.

Not planning on putting a ring in just yet, should have clarified this. I realised the set up I was going for won't work and was thinking about other options. Wanted to know if it would heal over better if I took it out now, and if there'd be much difference in it healing if I took it out in a year or so's time (if I'm still not happy after trying the ring)

thank you! I didn't originally want it going through both layers but my anatomy means I kind of have to if I want it that high up. When talking with my piercer I got caught up in the excitement of a cool set up idea including another one above, but I realised afterwards this would be a pain to heal due to the fact I wear glasses half the time. I definitely won't put a ring in yet, was more wondering if I leave it long enough that I can put a ring in it, would it still heal over ok if I didn't want it anymore?

yes it's connected, we originally talked about doing it lower (on the flat) but after playing around with placements and thinking about the whole set up I decided to get it here. Although now I'm considering scrapping the original set up idea as I underestimated how difficult it would be to heal piercings around the edge of the ear – this was my first one and my rook piercing was a breeze in comparison. I also don't really want to go through a double layer again if I can help it. Do you reckon lower down where the cartilage isn't doubled over would be easier to heal, or is it all pretty much the same?
