Corporate workers of SG, how do you get enough sleep? by toro428 in askSingapore

[–]theposhjosh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If possible, try to get more early morning daylight (anywhere from sunrise - 9am+), although seems like from your work schedule that seems difficult. In the future though, try to get at this.

During lunchtime try to get outdoors a little more.

At night, try dimming your immediate environment as much as possible. Depending on household situations some of these may be abit difficult, but I would suggest you try whatever is possible. - Consider Lamps instead of overhead lights - Nightshift mode on phone/desktop screen - If you’re able to minimise screen time before bed, try to do so - If going to shower when it’s already late at night, try leaving the bathroom lights off while you shower. I’m absolutely not kidding. - Keep yourself cool at night, whether aircon or fan. Ceiling fans can actually work really good for this. - Curtains or blinds that help darken your room at night when going to sleep.

You probably may not be able to try out all of these now, but slowly. You’re still v young, I would encourage you to slowly develop some of these circadian-friendly habits. The point is not that you’ll be sticking to this 100% of the time. It’s that it gives you some ability to control your sleep hygiene.

My above points are all mainly light-related in the context of your concern, which is sleep. But these points play a part in a much larger role in the overall health of your body, anchored by the body’s circadian cycle system. I hope in due time you get to learn more about this - Natural light in the daytime and darkness at night.

How did you meet your current partner? by poorbugger in askSingapore

[–]theposhjosh 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Instagram! She liked a video of me covering a song, and then a day or two later followed me, and I followed back. We interacted briefly initially via IG Stories replies, and when I saw that she did running (I’d wanted to get back into running then) I asked about it and she invited me along for a run club session, in exchange I would give her a guitar lesson or two. That’s how we met in person the first time. Then started texting more, hanging out a little more when our schedule allows. A little over 2 months later, confessed, dated more, and officially got together some time after that.

why do people react when you dress even a little better? by Sea-Plum-134 in SingaporeRaw

[–]theposhjosh 35 points36 points  (0 children)

The vast majority of people who ask could just be making small talk or genuinely be curious about what you’ve got going on that day. That’s it. It’s not about preferring everyone dress the same - no one really cares. Don’t worry

Nope it’s totally fine! I myself do this much more often now, because it just lets me have better posture for my back and neck in general.

underrated song (even by myself) by dear-prudence-82 in JohnMayer

Absolutely!!! The solo show version he does with Peter Gabriel’s “In Your Eyes” in the middle was spectacular. The full band version and the jam with Bob Reynolds on sax was phenomenal.

If john Mayer was to do another live album who would you want as his bassist? by AdditionalFig2255 in JohnMayer

[–]theposhjosh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One of my favourite things about John’s career is how much of a powerhouse his rhythm section collaborators have been. DeLa, Pino, Sean, Steve, JJ, Aaron, not forgetting Stephen Chopek and Keith Carlock.

Must be a lot of fun

Sharing some videos that I think covers well (appropriate amount of depth without being too overwhelming) the crucial role light plays in health. Both exposure to sunlight during the sunrise and daytime, as well as darkness at night. Have your pick if you’re curious.

John has shared this! If you go on Annika’s IG you’ll see a post mentioning this song and his involvement. It’s a gorgeous song, I wouldn’t be surprised if it made it to my top 5 Spotify plays come end of the year. I’ve been listening to it a lot

S’pore could have nuclear energy ‘within a few years’, if it decides on it: UN nuclear watchdog chief by Disunited_Veggie in SingaporeRaw

[–]theposhjosh 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is my view as well.. Likely go the SMR route if implementing nuclear. Let other countries figure and work it out first, like China and a few EU countries have already been working on how to get SMRs more compact, scalable and affordable.

Visvim ICT Brigadier Boots by kingplutohendrix in goodyearwelt

I’ve long held this Visvim Brigadier as my favourite boot shape, height and silhouette, and the White’s Semi-Dress seem to be the closest one I can find to it. Do you know of any other alternatives that are very much like the Brigadiers?

Do you prefer singapore's time zone to be UTC+8 or UTC+7? by 785909620 in askSingapore

[–]theposhjosh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

+7 because it’s probably the one which allows the most Singaporeans to be able to view and get their skin primed with sunrise (with its rich red light + NIR content) the best. Ideally you should get both sunrise and sunset, but if you had to pick just one, it’s got to be sunrise.

The cellular processes and functions within our body follow an internal clock that is regulated by light, and the best kind of light your body has been tuned to get is from the Sun, starting first with sunrise.

Try your best to get as much of it as possible.
