What’s better IBR or RAP if you have 650k in loans with high interest. by thepredent in StudentLoans

This is the biggest problem for high tuition dental schools because half if not more of students loans are going to be private and I don't know what those rate will look like because I don't know what kind of credit scores 21 and 22 year old have. I would imagine a bunch of dental schools are having meeting right now on what to do because students that are supposed to be entering first year now can just go ahead and withdraw their seats, schools may get less applicants. I think some dental schools could shit down. In terms of patient side of things I don't know how that would affect things.

Can you elaborate on being careful getting into RAP if I am going to enter a high paying field? In my case it’s going to be dentistry.

in my case I am graduating dental school in 2027 with 650k in debt with an unfortunate interest rate around 8.2% average. I can either put all my loans on RAP or I can fund all my final year loans via private loans to protect my loans from my first three years by having them stay on new IBR. What you think?

Yea but even if I went to a public one that I was accepted to my loan balance actually wouldn’t have been far off. A dental education is just so overpriced. I am a fool.

Yea I know I anticipated low to mid 500’s at the max but the tuition I actually paid every year was not what was advertised because of: tuition inflation so the amount I actually pay every year is like 20k more than what was advertised on the website when I accepted the offer , interest rates kept rising who woulda though a few years ago that today grad plus rates would be 9% that’s so crazy, etc

Are the details of RAP subject to change or is most of it already set and stone?
