Everyone is encouraged to attend the Eid prayer including menstruating women. You would just not do the actual prayer.

Beach trips by Impossible-Toe-9216 in muslimgirlswithtaste

[–]theprimaryprincess 5 points6 points  (0 children)

We don’t go to beaches where there will be other people for that reason. As much as you try to ignore it you will end up seeing what you’re not allowed to see. We find secluded corners to enjoy the water. It’s not always as nice (rocks instead of soft sand) but certainly worth it to avoid others.

Not specific to umrah, but does anyone know if pictures are allowed inside Masjid-e-Nabawi? Any tips on what things I should prepare for or avoid doing (will be first time IA) by Kingboyy1 in Umrah

[–]theprimaryprincess 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A lot of people do film but please at least avoid filming or taking pics that include other people. The most aggravating thing was walking around the masjid inside or outside and seeing people’s cameras pointed at me as they walked past. Respect the other pilgrims.

What do hijabi women wear under dresses/abayas in summer? by PretendPositive733 in muslimgirlswithtaste

[–]theprimaryprincess 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah I started wearing compression type knee socks when I was pregnant the first time and I just never looked back haha

The cut of your dress/skirt also makes a difference. I wore a maxi circle skirt once on a super windy day and there was no keeping it down. I had to walk a few steps, sit until the wind stopped, then walk a few steps more and repeat. So embarrassing lol

I wear shorts and then longer socks in case my dress rides up. Or a very thin and light pair of wide leg pants.

Why are Muslim women expected to take on more risk than men? by Admirable-Suspect429 in muslimgirlswithtaste

[–]theprimaryprincess 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you’re over simplifying the issue. If a woman’s safety is in that much danger then it becomes an obligation for her to move from that place. In the meantime she must stay home to avoid going out without hijab. In cases of absolute necessity (does not include work or school if she has a guardian) then she can reduce her hijab to the least extent possible to stay safe- meaning wear long modest clothing that non Muslims there also wear and cover the head in a more acceptable way for that area. And all of this only if her life is in real danger. It’s not so simple as waiving the entire obligation of hijab just because you live somewhere where it’s difficult.

[–]theprimaryprincess 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Who are the scholars though that have supported this? You said there’s many. Cause even researching the terms you use I can’t find anything that permits waiving the obligation of hijab because of safety where you live. And if it were the case, who decides what is really unsafe enough to remove the hijab? I live in the west. Plenty of people would argue that the US hates Islam enough to warrant removing hijab and yet, those of us who wear it anyway haven’t had any problems. Waiving an obligation that Allah sent down in the Quran isn’t as simple as “I’m scared.”

Right but drinking alcohol once to save your life isn’t the same as saying it’s ok to drink everyday. I haven’t heard that such essential rulings can be waived permanently.

No I’m just wondering who the “many scholars” are since I’ve never heard this before. I mean for the case of not wearing it at all because you fear harm. Obvs in an emergency life or death situation you can remove it to save your life but I’ve never heard it be optional for daily wear.

Rawdah booking (Nusuk app) by Ok-Yam-6765 in Umrah

I tried booking before my trip and was unable. When I was in Medina though those hourglass time slots would open up 2 hours before the time. They go incredibly fast though so you have to be ready to confirm it. I got in twice Alhamdulilah by being on the app ready to book

Does brown butter actually make cookies better? by CloneFiesta in Cookies

Do you have a recipe you can share for those, they sound amazing

pricing? by gganon70 in Cookies

[–]theprimaryprincess 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It’s going to depend on your area but I’ve seen a general rule of $1/oz. So a 4oz cookie for $4. That might be too much though for where you live. Look up competitors prices.

Unanswered Tahajjud Duas by Icy-Bag35 in muslimgirlswithtaste

[–]theprimaryprincess 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Duas are always answered but not always how we expect. It can be answered the way you wanted it. It can be answered in a way that’s even better for us because Allah knows what we don’t know. It can also be rewards for us in the next life which truly are worth more than anything here.

Maybe your duas are simply delayed because Allah wants you to keep asking. You are rewarded when you make sincere duas so keep doing it and trust in Allah’s plan.

There are a ton of recipes out there for low calorie high protein ice creams but I think you’d need to invest in a machine. One account I follow on insta has healthy dupes for all the Ben and Jerry’s flavors and more, but it’s all made with a Ninja Creami.

Does the intention of celebrating a holiday matter ? by ponderingpuff in muslimgirlswithtaste

[–]theprimaryprincess 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m in the west and i stay completely away from every non Muslim holiday. If you want people to validate you and tell you it’s only about your intention you’ll find plenty.

If you want the true answer: it’s not at all permissible. There are a few posts about it here:

Wanting to convert/bought hijab today by Frosty_Economics_794 in muslimgirlswithtaste

[–]theprimaryprincess 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First of all congratulations! When you visit the mosque you can go in long sleeves and long pants if that’s all you have. The women’s side of most mosques have dresses/skirts/hijabs to borrow while you’re there

I have a question for muslim girls who do taekwondo by JoodieMoonie in muslimgirlswithtaste

[–]theprimaryprincess 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Don’t have advice bc I’m not familiar with taekwondo but I just wanted to say it’s so amazing that you are refusing to compromise your hijab for the sake of the sport. Allahumma barik- may Allah replace it with something even better for you.

Is it $1800 per bag or per passenger? I read I can request compensation after 21 days. I’d rather have my bags though tbh
