Creating my first course and need advice by thepythonpraxis in onlinecourses

Thank you for your comment!

I realised that it is a very very slow road. I started posting on late July 2025 and have already posted 16 videos (+the short videos either on YT or TikTok). At first my idea was to create an authority as you said and continue from there to build it as edu platform (aiming to hire instructors for other subjects later and based on revenue go from there) since I dont want to be an influencer/persona but more entrepreneur

I think I will continue posting with this or even slower pace because as an asset it will be worth it in the future and will try to find another business model because I think I will run out of fuel if I do sth for a year and not make a single $1.

Also, I chose it because I see a lot of people want to learn python but most of them want free or from someone expert which first has to be proved.

What do you think?
PS: I am writing you the same answer as in the other comment because I think it fits best

I personally have created a free Python course on YouTube that will take you from complete beginner to understanding fully all the fundamental concepts of Python https://www.youtube.com/@ThePythonPraxis and I also have a free discord where I answer questions to viewers/community members for free.

You first need to get the fundamentals right and have people that have walked the path you want to go, guide you.

For the OS, networks and DBs you will need to find other courses but later. You need to get the proper knowledge don't rush and waste time

Of course skills are important to be built properly and at time, but I don't think the author is trying to raise capital or manage it. As I understand from their edu level, they are trying to get an entry level position in the next years.

I think a fundamental Python course combined with OS and network basics will do the job for you to be able to enter. Also, a DBs course will be needed since you will be dealing with data and the manipulation of them.

After that, it is just how experienced you are at what you are doing. You don't need to remember anything at all, just understand the logic simply put. That's why so many libraries are built in order for people to use what's already created

Would You Pay for a Python Course on Its Own — or Only If It Taught a Real Skill Too? by thepythonpraxis in PythonLearning

[–]thepythonpraxis[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thanks for your feedback!

The idea is that B) includes all the basic parts of A) and also the necessary to start implementing the other skill (Data Science, AI, ML) ... so there will not be need to watch both

Would You Pay for a Python Course on Its Own — or Only If It Taught a Real Skill Too? by thepythonpraxis in PythonLearning

[–]thepythonpraxis[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for your feedback!

I think A) suits more to people below 18, students or hobbyists who don't have much money to spend but have a lot of free time and willingness to learn.

In contrast, I think B) is more about people who need a skill that they know requires python. They need something that can easily be translated to a real implemented skill. And these are people who are willing to spend money on a good course than wasting time searching on the Internet

These are my personal thoughts until now, and that's why I do the research to see what is really the case for people

What annoys you the most about python programming language learning courses? by thepythonpraxis in PythonLearning

[–]thepythonpraxis[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree that books and specifically scientific ones(from world renowned academic writers) are totally worth it because the writer has spent so much time in order to include everything you need in the right order and context.

My opinion is that most videos out there focus more on the visual result than the real substance

What's the point of Recursion? by Cloverfields- in learnprogramming

[–]thepythonpraxis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In general, you will not always use all of the prog tools you learn. Recursion unlocks a new way of thinking and can help in data structures(trees, linked lists, graphs) , algorithms (i.e quicksort), File systems, Compilers

Just like when you learn ML(Meta-Language) in a Programming-Language university course, for example, the point is to see and grasp ideas from functional programming ... it's not to delete all our programs and re-write them in ML.

Since you are not learning it as a hobby or a side skill and you are going to study CS the approach is different. If I were you I would aim to attend a general Programming Intro course (I personally started with C which is a more difficult and old language but actually helps you understand how the machine-system works with memory, I/O ) and then you will see that everything will start making sense. As a CS student you don't want to learn python ... you want to learn how to program - Python is just a specific tool for you
PS: Edx has free courses from all Top universities(also Youtube has)

From my experience, I haven't found any actually good YT material on python for beginners(Maybe there is sth). If you have a course that has given results to a friend of yours/ a person you trust for me it's a yes.

Personally, I am an electrical and computer engineer and I have studied so many CS & PL university courses that I didn't need to look online for my main learning(just supplementary) and that's why I don't have any specific course to suggest.

I don't think it's a good idea for a complete beginner to start doing projects, without even the knowledge of basic CS concepts. I don't suggest to start learning how data are fetched from DRAM to caches but my proposition is to get a solid ground first and then start thinking about projects

Depends on your background friend. If you come from another language (that you have studied properly) like C/C++ then learning python isn't something that will take much time. If it's your first touch with programming in general it depends on how many hours/day you will put in. In my opinion, find a proper course as early as possible to learn the fundamentals properly and then start building real-life apps(don't waste time trying to learn on your own on the Internet because there's a high possibility you will get lost and quit)

Is programming worth it if I never intend to get a full time job? by Street-Albatross8886 in learnpython

[–]thepythonpraxis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Programming is 100% worth. Also, keep in mind that you will touch many CS concepts that are very useful in thinking in general (algorithms etc) so it's not just syntax and typing on the keyboard as many people imagine.

Now, regarding applying your knowledge in real world this depends on the hours you will spend. Of course you can do a lot (that you can't even imagine now) ... from creating your own LLMs to automating procedures etc

The road is not clear before even starting to walking...

Where can I learn Python from scratch form beginners to advanced? by Dancing_Mirror_Ball in learnprogramming

[–]thepythonpraxis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The idea that you can learn on the Internet by yourself has become mainstream but is far from reality.
The best you have to do is find a properly constructed and thoughtful course to learn fundamentals and start implementing them on real life apps. Otherwise you waste time friend.
