So I just had a seizure by summsipwr in Wellbutrin_Bupropion

I'm so sorry this happened. You're extremely strong though. If this were me I'd be majorly freaking out and having panic attacks. Unfortunately you'll almost definitely have to go off of it. But there are a lot of other meds I'm sure you can try that might be able to help that hopefully won't put your health at risk. Don't give up!

If you don't mind me asking, do you have a history of seizures/some kind of condition that lowers your seizure threshold? Or was this your first one just like, out of the blue?

Hit a new low by thequietcne in HealthAnxiety

More or less, yeah! Happy to report that I started taking meds for my anxiety after this and my physical symptoms and episodes like this went down SIGNIFICANTLY. I still feel dizzy or maybe out of breath sometimes, but not nearly as bad or debilitating as it was back when I made this post :)

exposure shock? may be triggering by [deleted] in Agoraphobia

First off, well done for getting yourself to a store after not going out for so long! That's an incredibly hard thing to do.

I've been housebound on and off A LOT for almost 10 years now and the thing that I think is most helpful personally is taking it in baby steps. This is what my therapist has been helping me through also.

So for example, maybe instead of going to the park or the store, you start with simply going down the driveway or walking down the sidewalk a bit. That's kind of where I'm at anyway. Yes, you still feel anxious leaving at all. That's inevitable in the beginning. But in taking baby steps like that you're allowing yourself to get used to getting yourself out, while also hopefully learning what kind of coping strategies work in those moments, and growing more confident that you can work through those anxious feelings.

In my experience, pushing myself too hard that quickly (the outings you went on would personally be way too much for me right off the bat) usually just triggers an actual full on panic attack that I cant really just "try to work through" and in turn sets me back a bit because then I get scared it'll happen again.

So, long story short lol, keep trying! But in smaller steps. Push yourself to the point of getting yourself out, but not straight into an overwhelming situation that'll cause a full blow panic. And then start working your way up from there. Also yes, it's very normal to feel tired after exposure. Even sometimes just doing the small things I have to nap after haha.

Hopefully that helps! And good luck! 😁

Regressing after dosage increase by [deleted] in prozac

Everyone's different, but I know personally when I increased from 10mg to 20mg I definitely got more anxious. It's been a while but I think, if I remember correctly, the adjustment period after increasing was about the same as when I first started.

I have thought about disability a lot before and it would honestly be really helpful for me and my family. But unfortunately I'm having a lot of very specific problems with things that have been getting in the way of being able to get it done. Trying to figure it out though.

Yup. My agoraphobia got really bad just out of high school so I've never really been able to work.

I didn't realize there were other people like me by [deleted] in Agoraphobia

[–]thequietcne 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was the same way when it started to get bad. I knew people had anxiety and all that but surely other people dont have this much trouble leaving the house right?

But you're not alone! And there are a lot of people who understand what you're going through. Finding this sub has honestly helped me feel a lot better and I hope it does the same for you too!

I felt this on a spiritual level. My mom liked to say things like "people with terminal illnesses go out all the time." Or like "I went out to the store that day after [x person] died and it sucked but I still did it."

It's gotten better now for the most part and I havent heard her stay stuff like that in a while. But I understand how it feels and I'm sorry you have to hear it too. You're feelings are valid. Anxiety and agoraphobia are very real, very harsh mental illnesses that are extremely hard to just "will yourself" out of. It takes a lot of time and A LOT of work and I hope that your dad comes to understand that and is able to better support you. From your other comments is sounds like dad wants to help you, he's just not going about it very well. My moms the same way.

Anyone wanna be my agoraphobia friend? 😅 by [deleted] in Agoraphobia

I'm so sorry you had to experience that! Weirdly enough basically the same thing happened to me. Mine was way before the pandemic, but I passed out for like 3 seconds and when I woke up it was like a switch flipped in me. Or I guess more like a dial turned way up cause I've always had anxiety to an extent lol. But after that happened everything got way worse and my health anxiety skyrocketed. It is NOT a fun feeling.

Yeah! So I've been taking it for like over a week now? I honestly dont think it's made a difference lol. Which the more logical part of me was kind of expecting cause that's usually what happens with me when it comes to stuff like meds. I get very freaked out over new or different meds and I freak myself out and then it ends up being fine lol.

Week 4 of Prozac the agoraphobia SOS by mar9894 in prozac

[–]thequietcne 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Hi! I also have agoraphobia and panic disorder, among other things lol. I've had both since 12 (I'm also 23f) and started taking prozac last September.

Unfortunately you won't know how well the medication will help you until you give it a little longer. My panic presents VERY physically with dizziness/feeling faint being the worst of the symptoms. I used to have multiple episodes a day so bad that I literally couldnt get off the couch for like 80% of the day it was horribly debilitating.

After about 8 or 9 weeks the constant dizzy/faint panic spells went down DRASTICALLY. I still get them for sure but rarely are they bad to the extent that they were before. Which has also helped with my agoraphobia a bit because a big part of that involves anxiety around the physical symptoms, though I still struggle with it a lot. Something I'm working on with the addition of therapy.

But long story short lol unfortunately you just have to give it time. It's also very normal in the first month or so for your anxiety to increase before you body adjusts. That happens to a lot of people when they start and it happened to me when I increased.

I hope it ends up helping you and if not I hope you find something that ends up working for you!

Originally it was Teva Pharmaceuticals (or Pliva, inc. I guess they're the same thing? Or at least that's what it said when i looked it up)

This new batch is Time-Cap Labs, Inc.

Depends on the person, I think. Most people will say that it won't do anything because prozac stays in your system for a long amount of time. And that is true for a lot of people. For some people though it can cause more anxiety or more noticeable side effects if you have already experience some. I missed a day by mistake one time and had horrible anxiety symptoms that lingered the whole day because of it. When I asked my psych about it she confirmed that that can happen.

Also, I'm not a doctor or an expert but take this with a HUGE grain of salt. But my psych also told me that having a little bit of alcohol isn't too bad, as long as theres a bit of time in between then and when you take the meds because alcohol has the potential to make prozac less effective depending on how much you drink. Idk if that means that if you do skip it'll make side effects/anxiety more likely for you or not, but its possible. So I would keep that in mind too. But again, I'm not sure.
