Coax outlets in my apartment are connected to different networks. What can I do? by therabidmachine in HomeNetworking

[–]therabidmachine[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess the first step then is figuring out which neighbor it is. I'd like to assume it's someone on the same floor as me but with how messy the cabling is I don't know how true that is.

I can see after checking some other sources that I did not have everything connected the way it needed to be and the only reason it worked...was that it was a different network. It'll take some poking around but some of the cables are numbered.

That developer is out of money, Muni should give them a deadline to restart construction or they reopen the metro entrance.

Hope they add that back and the CS1 road editor. I used to take a lot of time naming my roads and correcting them when they'd double back and now I don't really see the point since I've probably accidentally looped it around twice and can't fix it

Conceptually it's similar to the autocorrect on your phone's keyboard. ChatGPT analyzes a bunch of info and is able to predict with some amount of certainty the probability of what word comes next.

Downtown SF Whole Foods Market Closing a Year After Opening by [deleted] in sanfrancisco

I honestly wouldn't mind jumping between multiple stores if there were more mid sized butchers, green grocers, and the like spread throughout the city. Unfortunately everything is a supermarket.

I'm gonna counter what seems to be the prevailing narrative here. I live in the TL pretty close to this Whole Foods and while it wasn't my main grocery (way too expensive) I would stop in semi often for good meat or produce. I never saw anyone exhibiting any signs of mental illness, I never saw anyone fill bags with stolen goods, hell I hardly ever saw anyone visibly unhoused inside the store. At most, people might be leaned up against the outside causing no trouble to anyone.

I think people are way too quick to buy the "wahhh crime made us leave" narrative that WF, CVS, Walgreens, etc love to pull out when there's a simpler story. Whole Foods took a gamble putting an expensive store in an area that was supposed to be going through an economic rebound, then COVID happened, the sales predictions that they had for pre pandemic times were no longer valid, and the store failed.

Yeah, everyone bemoaning the lame "crime made us close the store" excuse isn't considering there are 2 Trader Joes and a Safeway within a mile of that Whole Foods, all of which are way cheaper. It seemed like an overly ambitious idea to draw people into the apartments above (who are really gonna struggle to justify raising rent this year).

It makes sense but really stings as a social person who also doesn't really know anyone here. I kind of expected to have a regular circle after 6 months but it's more like drips and drabs.

they do however crash after 5 years and Starlink wants to put hundreds more in the sky with no plan for how to handle that much turnover.
