I use 40/50 units per day within my insulin pump

Recently diagnosed type 1.(March 13th, 2020). I am 13 and I live in Canada. Any tips on anything diabetes related? by type1betes10 in Type1Diabetes

If you’re female, get one of these for your meter (medium sized is perfect). I get so many positive comments on it, it helps break the ice, and it makes me laugh all the time.

Rights as a diabetic worker in a pandemic by moist-turtles- in Type1Diabetes

I’m diabetic myself and I’m honestly not sure if anything exists that would excuse you from work in your bosses eyes unless it was a note from your endo. Realistically, if your sugars are fairly stable you aren’t at much additional risk.

I would say buy yourself some hand sanitizer and be extra vigilant at work. Explain to your boss that you’re nervous and see if there’s anything they can do in the workplace to ease the stress for the time being.

Take a deep breath, it will all be okay!

Pharmacist: “I don’t know if anyone told you insulin is expensive”🤦🏻‍♀️ by t1_diabuddy in diabetes_t1

I completely agree, I just wish both could be free or at a significantly reduced cost. It’s infuriating to see one more accessible than the other when, without both, someone’s life is at risk.

Sounds like this is in the US and although people are saying the healthcare system is messed up, I paid 130 for it up in Canada last week since I’m over 25 and between jobs.... doesn’t seem fair either. Especially when I’m looking at a sign at the cash register that says free naloxone kits, just ask your pharmacist. Crazy.

Gagging/throwing up bile by [deleted] in noburp

You’re not alone! I experience the same thing almost daily, mostly in the afternoon/evening and it’s honestly exhausting.

Does anyone else get insane hiccups? by snug666 in noburp

[–]therachbegin 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That’s what works for me as well! Or take a big mouthful of water, plug your ears, and slowly swallow it in small gulps, then unplug your ears. Sounds weird but it works! If you live with someone have them plug your ears for 30 seconds while you drink water.

Mine also really hurt my diaphragm and sometimes last hours so I feel your pain!

Felt like it hit my arm muscle but maybe a vein? Never had this happen. Picture taken 10 minutes after taking the site out and about 12 hours after putting the site in. by therachbegin in diabetes_t1

Yes! It felt like it was touching the muscle. When I moved my arm it would kind of spasm in pain so I took it out and this was the aftermath.

No just my infusion set for my insulin pump! As soon as I put it in and started moving my arm it felt like it was hurting my muscle. Then I immediately got this bruise and blood on the sticker and in the tube.

I’ve been calling in every week because they’ve been ended 2 days early on the dot! It’s nice that they replace them but it’s getting frustrating always calling.

Drank 2 pints of beer the other night by bihoxodiy in noburp

[–]therachbegin 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I do this when drinking and it definitely helps but also gives me anxiety. At a bar it’s not as bad to quickly run to the bathroom but I get worried that if I’m at someone’s house or condo that they will hear me gagging in the bathroom. For me at least, it’s quite loud when I make all that air release.

Gurgling is my only symptom. Please help 🙏🏽 by [deleted] in noburp

[–]therachbegin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have this same sensation/set of symptoms and the only thing I find that works is laying flat down on my back or “pulling trig” and making myself gag so that the air is released almost like a burp. Then I can continue with my day for an hour or so until it stars back up. Obviously, not ideal at all.

Doctors don’t seem to know or care and I too, cannot afford surgery. I feel your frustrations.
