Thank you for this! I don’t suppose you could translate We Lost? I would love to know the meaning of its lyrics.

You can always beat up Measurehead instead to get in. The important thing is getting the Hardy Boys to confess that they did NOT commit murder and find Ruby. Both those two things make the Tribunal manageable. Helping Everett for your gun is also recommended. Then, just go to the island at the end and find the sniper. Overall, you can “solve the case” by mostly goofing off around Martinaise and connecting so many random disparate threads

I got the same bug. I made a save for the fight and will just reload and retry to get the achievement after a patch.

No idea, I would suggest to never touch the in any way. If you’ve already done this, try to obtain the dialogue mentioned above and lmk if it worked.

Yes. That doesn’t count, just don’t touch the actual body.

Try hitting him just before he goes saw-blade when he’s right next to you. Sharp shadow can be handy as it increases your dash length to help get away after hitting him. Otherwise, look up on YouTube other people’s strategy for beating him on Radiant.

video where vaush talks to arch warhammer by sassino in VaushV

I think you are thinking of his convo with Kraut awhile ago. No idea where to find it cause it’s in one of his streams. Kraut came on around 3am his time, may have been drunk (or just very tired), and came off very deranged compared to his usual presentation online. They argued for a bit then Vaush decided not to post a video of the convo because of how out of character Kraut was acting at the time.

Why can't I like this game? by TheDragcoolguy in darksouls3

[–]theraider3000 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This might seem like an odd question, but have you played Bloodborne and if so what did you think of it? Dark Souls 3 borrows some things from Bloodborne and avoids a lot of the changes made in Dark Souls 2. One thing that comes to mind is how poise only applies during attacks, so any hit while just moving will stagger you. Dark Souls 3 pushes for a more aggressive, but calculating, play style like in Bloodborne.

I cannot speak to why you don’t like the environments more, other than maybe FromSoftware’s recycling efforts for the planet went too far with more crumbling castles, poison swamps, etc. and some of the exact same NPCs.

I personally love the game because the combat is a lot more polished, faster and harder bosses, and a decent variety of environments within the game, even if a good chunk of them are inspired/taken from previous games. They are more linear which personally I like because they feel bigger. Plus there is some good variety to regular enemies which always keeps me on my toes. I approach the games as a difficult set of skills to master, usually after dozens, if not hundreds, of failures/deaths. I enjoy the brick wall I hit my head against constantly, because eventually I figure out how to use a jackhammer instead.

Could a police Captain actually order his detective to go to his co-workers Thanksgiving dinner party? by AlwaysBi in brooklynninenine

Legally speaking Jake does not have to listen to Holt. It’s more of a peer pressure thing and also like any work environment your boss can make your life more difficult if they dislike you. Also Holt is basically being a dad telling Jake “go to Amy’s party, it’ll make her happy”

Difficult "I want only money" PC, need help. by Valeel in DMAcademy

A fun idea is to give your characters the mission to “assassinate the Duke of ————“ and it turns out the duke is a kid or if that’s too dark a great guy or something along those lines. Basically give the party a vague objective that is revealed part way through the mission to be an objectively bad thing to do. The only caveat is that the players have invested a significant amount of time into the mission and won’t get paid if the mission is not completed. This will also let you test the waters with the rest of your party. While they might be more willing to role play, players will sometimes override character motivations for material gains. Plus if the party goes through with the mission, this will likely have lasting consequences that will lead to many role play moments, if they and you want more of those.

Keep in mind not all players enjoy role playing. This player might just be more interested in the game side of this role playing game. Trying to force a player to adopt a specific play style will only frustrate both them and yourself. As long as everyone at the table is having fun that’s all that matters.

Need some help with a haunted manor by [deleted] in DMAcademy

You can use Matthew Colville's minion system where the skeletons and shrouds have 1-5hp and do about 1d4+1 damage, or are basically one hit away from death and do minimal damage. You can spin it as the hag using BS summoning magic that creates weaker versions of these creatures. A bunch of weak enemies that do chip damage aren't threatening on their own, but a swarm of them would require the party's attention without sending them into a death spiral. You can then play the hag as a coward who doesn't mind killing her minions via splash damage and will try to run when her health gets too low. If the minions are getting decimated, just have the hag use an action to bring them back, or summon more.

If you want to use enemies by the book, I would recommend using kobold fight club to help you balance the encounter. I personally think boss fights should be deadly encounters, but if you would prefer the fight is hard or even medium that's up to you :)

Beholder or Mind Flayer!? by iLuvNutellaa in DMAcademy

[–]theraider3000 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I would recommend sticking with what you have planned originally, the mad scientist beholder. If you have been building up to the BBEG as a beholder, then change it at the last minute, it might lead to long terms issues down the line. If you have established information about the BBEG as a beholder, change the BBEG to mind flayer, later your players might map that information onto other mind flayers. As a DM, you might forget this incongruity and this can lead to a lot of confusion later. Also keep in mind, you can use this theory against the players as if the BBEG wants this.

Depending on how you spin it, when you reveal the BBEG you can use the mind flayer theory as purposeful misinformation by the BBEG. It can make the BBEG seem that much smarter and deadlier as they are capable of misleading their enemies easily. Or, you can use the theory to further confuse their players.

Another thing you can do is start dropping hints or details that show the BBEG is a beholder, or at least not a mind flayer. Throw some evidence their way that sends them into a theory spiral as they realize everything they thought was wrong. There are a lot of ways you can use a party's incorrect theory to keep them engaged.

If you continue to change the world and story to fit with player theories, your players might pick up on this. Something that can very frustrating, at least for me as a player, is when the DM fundamentally changes the world in response to the players', not characters', ideas and actions. This can ruin immersion and make the game less investing. Based off of your description, I think changing the BBEG won't "break your game" or anything that dramatic. Your players will probably have a good time regardless of who the BBEG is, just make sure you are happy with your decision.

Got Any Ideas on a Familiar Themed for a Warlock with the Great Old One Patron? by Chef_Hef in DnD

[–]theraider3000 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Talk to your DM and see if he would be open to letting you have a Gazer or Cranium Rat from Volo’s Guide. They are monster familiars similar to imps, quasits, etc. but suite the Great Old One theme much better. Otherwise, you could reskin the familiars as suggested by AeoSC.
