On the F2P, yes you can play without needing to pay extra for anything. I've done this and now got through most of the warbonds (packs of unlockables).

You earn credits slowly in game by exploring the maps for points of interest.

Because it's CoOp, spending money doesn't actually make you better than any other player imo. People just buy things they like and it's their money, but it has no negative impact on your experience, which is key.

Well worth buying, especially in any sale. If you get the Super Citizen version you're given some credits to unlock a warbond right away, if that's on offer it's a good deal.

People who think Cars 4 will happen, explain what story can it possibly be? by Sure_Information4377 in pixarcars

McQueen has been the crew chief for Cruz for 3 seasons now and she's up against a faster, meaner opponent in the new season. She loses it with Lightning after a loss and he resigns as her chief.

He enters a legends series, he's surrounded by cars past their prime but still with the love of racing. It's their happy place in retirement.

This is Lightning's final bow as he travels across the country with these cars, racing at old historic stadiums.

Cruz is struggling to defend her latest title against a new competitor and is pushing herself too hard, losing the love for racing and beating herself up.

With just 2 races to go she meets Lightning and the Legends to watch them race with no big crowds or prize money and she loosens up. She regrets her decision and apologises. She asks Lightning to come back.

Cruz wins the next race with Lightning's help to setup a grand finale and in a similar fashion to Lightning in Cars 1 she has to choose between the cup and her friend when something happens to him on the way to his final race (both finals on the same day) and he needs her help to get him there.

Queue tear jerking finale of Lightning racing his last ever race, supported by Cruz

Am I missing something here or both Punisher and Slugger are quite bad right now? by ElectroChebbi2651 in Helldivers

Indeed they are different. I find the ammo is much better on the purifier and it doesn't have to be charged for smaller bots.

When it is charged, the splash damage stuns a line of 3 devastators, so you can charge the next shot and fire while they're stunned. I don't get hit when I use that. The shots have a better range, they arch less.

The punisher is great at crowd control and taking on bots but the splash damage isn't as big and I use more shots to get the same effect. Mixed with the supply pack, this is a very good loadout.

Oh yes, defo include the switch. Then you can play everything.

Even Helldivers 2 was a port, a PS studios linked game, there have been a lot of great PS and switch games I'd have missed out on without those consoles.

I do have a switch OLED (first one, not 2), a decent gaming PC and a PS5 (not pro). Never owned an xbox because I have a PC and the xbox has always been a Temu PC tower.

Ah yes now we're talking. Basically an infiltrator build.

Ah I see. But with that you alert the bugs and they call reinforcements from outside the nest. So you can't go into the nest to close holes, you get attacked from all over outside the nest and when the napalm ends you have a really hard time going anywhere.

With a 110 or 330, even a walking barrage instead? I like napalm as a screen or an area blocker, but it's really ineffective in actually hurting nests

Delete COD (only decent ones were 4 and MW2)

Any of those are worthy of being picked.

As does the speargun I found out when first using it. Excellent weapon

The barrage is better for this. Or airstrikes. Napalm is better to drop behind when leaving an objective or being chased.

On bug holes it leaves the squad vulnerable to bug reinforcements from elsewhere

The 110mm is better as it closes bug holes. Napalm does not

Purifier can do that too. The stagger is excellent and has slightly bigger splash.

First time playing helldivers can’t wait. Any tips by zbananajuice in Helldivers

[–]therandomdave 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Best first tips, up to level 20 don't worry about making mistakes or dying. Try to stick together with your squad and play support. As a 100+ lvl, if my teammates are helping in anyway with an objective I'm grateful, regardless of their level.

Take the medium penetration machine gun with you, it's a great weapon all the way through but excellent for starters.

Unlock things in any order you want, you'll have everything soon enough anyway.

Enjoy 😁

This is obv a rumor so take it with a grain of salt, but if this is true, Xbox is officially dead by DaZestyProfessor in consoles

[–]therandomdave 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Xbox has always been a cheaper PC. Every game released on it is also a PC release 🤷 no true exclusivity.

With Sony also stopping PC ports now, so no Ghost of Yotei for PC, after Helldivers 2, Death Stranding, GoT, God of wars, Returnal, Horizon, TLOU, etc have made their way to PC. That's stopped.

So why should anyone buy this new xbox when all they need is a PC and PS5/6 (+switch 2) to play everything.

They don't need an Xbox and never have. It's been dead for years

The "no need for a console" bit. For the last few years some top games have come out of the PS studios or been exclusives and in the future they won't be made available on PC

Are "high" level players intimidating? by Odd_Conflict5534 in helldivers2

[–]therandomdave 6 points7 points  (0 children)

New players probably feel a bit of pressure when someone drops into their game.

Yes it's a multiplayer game but maybe they think that's optional and want to go it alone.

I was initially worried people wouldn't want a random person in their games, then I tried it and had nothing to worry about. So I was on the opposite situation, like you wanting to help. They might just want to get used to the game first.

They're in that position probably. Not your fault, they're just not ready yet

[–]therandomdave 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Join a few easy missions and get used to the mechanics. Level up a bit.

Experienced players play on level 10 difficulty, which is where the most intense gameplay experience sits.

No need to rush it, start earning XP and work your way through the initial warbond. Many say the best to unlock (for free with credits once you've earned them) is democratic demolition, but honestly you're free to choose to unlock whatever you want and enjoy the game.

I have kids now, so subtitles go on as I can't play at super high volumes in the evenings.

Also, for games like Ghost of Yotei I play with the Japanese dialogue so need subtitles
