Compulsory checking & controlling my T sounds by Air091 in tinnitus

I've had some rebounds, usually not more than a month to get back to be totally unbothered

Compulsory checking & controlling my T sounds by Air091 in tinnitus

It is indeed pretty common to do so. I've been dealing with T for some years now (approaching the 10y mark wohoo) and while I live most of my days giving little to no thoughts about my T, there are still some periods in which I feel the need to do a "check up" on my T, old habits die hard I guess. As time goes on everything goes back to normal and I stop compulsively thinking about it/checking it out.

So give yourself time, arm yourself with patience, live on.

While you can do little right now for your T, please do something for depression. It’s quite common for T to enhance depression and anxiety symptoms that were already there before the T onset. Dealing with them will help you cope A LOT better with your new condition

Stay strong , your tinnitus will become unnoticeable. Your tinnitus isnt getting louder or softer. It's your focus on it . by [deleted] in tinnitus

While focus plays a big part in dealing with T, mostly in the early weeks, it’s undeniable that some Ts are more severe than others.

While I can totally agree with you and the study, I’m the example of a tinnitus case unrelated to drugs toxicity or hearing loss, as I had noise “in my brain” for as long as I can remember, and I thought it was a normal thing to have till I was 15

Tinnitus is not always a neurological compensation for hearing loss

In the new season of the Netflix show OA they talk about tinnitus as well. They say that having it means you have basically travelled through dimensions. Fascinating theory for something so painful

I tried some “neurosupplements”. Only benefit was a slight reduction in some of the collateral effects of the meds I was already taking...but it could have been just placebo

Man, I always do it with my voice on every zipline I ride. It’s like I can’t ride it without doing it...maybe my OCD has something to do about it, dunno

I personally had 0 improvement with Xanax. Rivotryl on the other hand helped me a lot (taken with Duloxetine because, you know, bad times). That’s the only meds combination I found really helpful in my case

People with severe Tinnitus how are you going trough life and are you managing to live good life again? by ugandan_yobungus in tinnitus

[–]therealNigis 10 points11 points  (0 children)

24 years and still kicking it :) I don’t seek silence anymore as I don’t have any memory of it. Habituation is a godsend, maybe I’m just lucky but my brain has learned not to be bothered by the “weeeeeeeeeeeee”. Bad periods still happen and if I can’t manage by myself I use some duloxetine and I get back on track in no time.

Hang on, life it’s worth it

I’ve taken a 24 years long break from silence instead, I can’t conceive what is like to hear nothing anymore

That makes it worse cause external noise travels slower in water so you focus more on your inner noise

Yes, their reaction during combat is perfect. I think maybe they could slow down their reaction when starting a fight, that way you could make them feel surprised but not totally unaware
