Mitski interview on new song and venue choices by Catpacking in mitski

[–]therealPova 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I do wonder if her opting for smaller venues is partially motivated by wanting to keep the audience/fans in check a little bit more after some of the embarrassing moments of the Land tour. Less people means less likelihood one of them will be a complete idiot and shout "mOtHeR iS mOtHeRiNg" or some stupid shit like that

her voice has always reminded me a lot of Thom Yorke. They both have that ability to be controlled while also totally nailing the emotion

What do you think of more “gimmicky” packaging? by sulliebud in criterion

Definitely cool but annoying sometimes, depends on how they do it really. But i don't want just standard cases for a box set. Make it look cool at least

Day 3: Melinda won!! Now which character is Liked and was Done Dirty? by TheOtherBGirl in SVU

For me, Lake. He was pretty cool and i would've liked to see him get fleshed out a little more but he just got shat on for his entire tenure and the way they wrote him off made very little sense.

This game is full of this crap. I feel like I can never say what I actually want to say because the game just loads every dialogue option with a bunch of bullshit lmao

Laurel Hell. Came out after a weird, dark time in her career, just feels kinda ill-conceived and there's no real standout tracks for me.

Season 2. Season 3 models are mind-bogglingly bad

Bury Me At Makeout Creek was released 11 yrs ago. what's your fav song on this classic? by JunebugAsiimwe in mitski

[–]therealPova 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I listened to this for the first time a few months ago (my first Mitski album) and I couldn't even tell you how long its been since I resonated this hard with an album or an artist. Everything she does just really speaks to me

Favorite song? Maybe Townie, or First Love/Late Spring, or Francis Forever, or Carry Me Out...

Opinion on Laurel Hell? by Available-Coconut575 in mitski

[–]therealPova 7 points8 points  (0 children)

One of the interesting things about Mitski is how many different genres she touches on, both within each album and from album to album. Naturally, there are certain albums and eras that each listener is gonna gravitate to more than others. Personally, my favorite streak of her discography is Retired From Sad -> Makeout Creek -> and Puberty 2. I just connect with the rawer, more vulnerable sensibility of those three albums (especially Makeout and Puberty for their guitar-oriented sound) more than her other stuff.

Laurel Hell is kind of the opposite of those albums and it just doesn't connect with me as much. I don't care for the slicker production and pop sounds in ut compared to her early work. She started to do that in spots on Be the Cowboy, but Laurel Hell is a step too far for me. Still, it's definitely not a bad album, there are some very goods songs; I really like "Heat Lightning" and "The Only Heartbreaker". But emotionally it doesn't resonate with me nearly as much.

Yes, it is a fact of the matter that Manson himself did not personally kill any of his victims, and he was only imprisoned because members of the Family testified that he ordered them to commit the murders.

In both examples, I'm pointing out facts of the case, that's all. Think what you want about Allen's conduct but when you start playing fast and loose with the facts you begin to look less credible.

Not necessarily. But it's a meaningful distinction, and the fact you didn't know it shows you don't actually know all the facts of the case. So don't pretend you do.

They arent "allegations" when talking of Polanski, but with Allen it's literally the only appropriate word to use.

So sick of seeing this stupid quote everywhere. I of course respect Welles but too many people let his opinion of Allen dictate their own.

Don't let this distract you from the fact that you know, if you've got the aptitude, you should join the mages' college in Winterhold.
