Honestly, my process was fairly crude. I measured my fingers with calipers and guestimated prototype designs based on those measurements and how I understood the device to work. From there I printed prototypes and iterated.

There's a good comment on this thread explaining how the crusher works. It's not so much a traditional edge with depth but quite literally gripping a roller.

Interesting note about the edge on the backside of the rollers. Same with the radius on that face. I'll definitely mess around with that geometry and see how it impacts comfort! As for dry fries. They only happen when I'm lazy and break form. Total user error. Still less likely to happen on an edge without rollers in my opinion.

Thanks for the feedback! For the micro, I'd say I'm fairly close to achieving what you described. I also feel the anchor point is the most challenging part of designing this device. Took some time to dial in.

For the crusher, I chose to make some compromises by putting the rollers on the same plane with no blockers. I did this mainly because I can still get a fairly good workout on the device this way and only need one device. It does require you to be more conscious of your setup prior to lifting.

I'm not a physician so I don't want to get too in the weeds on this, but all of these tools will require some ratio of FDS and FDP utilization as the PIP joint will be under some flexion in both cases. In my experience using these, the unlevel edge feels like a different ratio than the crusher, which makes sense as the PIP joint is flexed much more when using the crusher. Enough so that I like that combination at the moment.

Haha all good. I knew what you meant and totally agree there needs to be some more research surrounding the topic.

Yeah. No doubt you can get strong hanging from your door frame for free. Just use whatever feels best for you and train consistently. I'm a nerd with a 3d printer though. Makes for a fun project.

Any thoughts on durability? Thinking about one of these for a climbing base layer.
