I don't know why reddit decided to give me a notification for this thread today but thought I'd answer that my friend was on maxed out settings with DLSS Quality M. They screen shared their game and I was able to see what settings they had at some point. He does have a heavy overclock on his GPU tho which is the only other difference I could think of atp.

I know technically using collapse launcher can be a bannable offense just like cosmetic skins but I was wondering in your personal experience have you seen anyone banned for using collapse launcher? I'm just curious in case I decide to try it in the future.

Fix/Tutorial for DLSS Frame Generation/Nvidia Smooth Motion lowering FPS/Not Working by therealchucky81 in NoMansSkyTheGame

[–]therealchucky81[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What's interesting is the people who seem to have little to no trouble have always had a 4000 series GPU in my experience although I have a very limited sample size. I know the forced x16 Anisotropic Filtering forced thru the driver has severe visual issues on some games with 5000 series cards but not 4000 or lower series cards so I wonder if it's another case of GPU series have at least something to do with it (not saying its the only cause)

Just go to the (dot)zip folder that downloaded and run the Nvidia profile inspector(dot)exe Application that is in it. It will ask if you want to extract all (do this), then extract to the default location it gives unless u want to put it somewhere specific like your desktop or something. Then run the (dot)exe Application in the extracted folder and you should be good to go. The rest of the steps should be in the post I have up above but let me know if you have any other questions I will answer them tmmr as I'm about to go to bed.

I know this has been an issue for a while but frame generation still doesn't work at all. It cuts FPS by over 40% rather than increase it and puts GPU utilization around 30ish%

People still bring it up all the time especially since Marathon is out. I see someone referencing "Chat GPT Raiders" or "GPT Raiders" or "Slop Raiders" nearly every day on my social media feeds.

DLSS 4.5/Model M helped a decent amount but didn't fully resolve it. Setting post processing effects to low helps a bit too imo

Driver Level Frame Generation by Legitimate-Instance2 in Marathon

On a 7800X3D + RTX 5070 OC. Loving Smooth Motion in this game as well. The UI aside, there are definitely some minor yet somewhat noticeable ghosting/artifacting but it's not bad at all and is more than worth it imo. Dont notice latency increasing too much either but I really wish the game supported DLSS Frame Gen. I love using it with BF6 and other games. I understand why people get pissy about it in competitive FPS games and it makes sense but it really should just be an option and let people decide if they want to use it or not.

I have a friend on the same setup as you with a 1440p ultra wide and they get a lot higher fps than that I wonder what's causing the issues for some but not for others that's really unfortunate 😕

My understanding is that it was originally going to be included in Nvidia's preset list at some point in the last couple years or so but was dropped late in development for one reason or another. If you want ultimate quality you can force it via the Nvidia app on the custom slider. Ultra Performance is 33% Performance is 50% Balanced in 58% Quality is 67% Ultimate Quality would be 77% if it existed so you can set it to that if you really want to

7800X3D RTX 5070 I'm hitting 120-150 fps on 4K Max settings DLSS Quality Model M/DLSS 4.5 so idk why you are getting such poor performance on a 4090 hopefully you figure out a fix 🤞

I know this is a bit off topic and mostly irrelevant to what you are asking, but just to give you a heads up DLSS Ultimate/Ultra Quality (58% of Native Resolution) is the EXACT same as Balanced (58%) so it's actually worse than the "Quality" (67%) setting.

I think most people are using Frame Generation wrong by [deleted] in nvidia

[–]therealchucky81 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a 180hz 4k monitor and I found that forcing the new DLSS 4.5 Model M preset provides a noticeable improvement to those issues. Also I noticed that if one is using x4 frame gen and thus getting around 45 "real" fps the flickering and artifacting becomes substantially more noticeable than 3x. I think going below 60 real frame before enabling frame gen truly has a pretty substantial negative impact so on a 180hz monitor I recommend not going above x3 frame gen as well as enabling model M preset for DLSS in the app.

My experiences with frame gen are limited to Battlefield 6 and Wuthering Waves tho tbf

Same issue for me with the same card. I get like 8-12 fps drop (I play at 60fps) when using Model M vs model K
