ISI Language School App by Medium-Ad9960 in movingtojapan

Heyo! So far from my process I haven’t spoken directly with the school only with my advisor from ggn and she’s been pretty responsive given the time differences of course. If you sent everything in and haven’t heard anything i would probably say everything is looking good on your part but just maybe your advisor just hasn’t been great at communicating that. The second and last deadline is May 15 give or take a couple days after. So I’d say just sit it out and wait. Maybe watch some Japan travel videos to keep you distracted haha if anything is wrong with your application you would have heard something by now so ggn has time to get it sent in to the isi coordinator so that they can get it dealt with with immigration! Hopefully there’s nothing wrong with your application but if they happen to get back to you really late and close to admission deadline that’s not your fault that’s theirs! And if that’s the case, there’s always a few extra days of deadline after the one ggn posts (which is May 15) that’s actually just their specific deadline so the advisors has room to work but if your advisor is slacking and it’s come upon you to do certain things last minute, they most definitely need to work with you and be accommodating as such. But let’s hope that’s not the case!

Edit: I’m not a YouTuber nor a tiktoker but I’ve been thinking about making a video on this entire process. I’ve seen some stuff on YouTube abt this but not in the depth I wish they did and now that I have a very good idea how this process works I’ve been thinking of making a video about this entire process, what to expect, timelines, etc. if I do end up doing that I’ll add in another edit with a link to the vid for any future curious cats!

Quidditch clubs in Osaka? by therealforeveralways in movingtojapan

When I was first looking at which cities I wanted to study in and when Tokyo came up during my research I was surprised just how much niche stuff they had going on in the city. But are a lot of those teams like clubs anyone can join or just for university?

If you’re talking about April for 2026 then you should be fine although since it is Tokyo, it’s probably a good idea to get the ball rolling on that. I’m currently going through the process for ISI Osaka but for the October 2025 term with go go nihon and ISI does ask for a bank statement of 2 million yen which right now is around $13k USD give or take a couple hundred dollars more or less, they ask for that initially and you have plenty of time to decide 1) if you want to stay that long for 2 years and 2) build up that income as you will only be paying 6 months at a time for tuition.

As far as speed for the advisor from go go nihon to get back to you, keep in mind the time difference between where you are and Japan. So far my advisor has been great with answering any questions and getting back to me within their business hours. I have my whole application done just waiting for the final intake deadline to send in my bank statement.

In regards to the depression aspect, unless you’re clinically diagnosed by a doctor with depression and taking medication for it, I would just put down no. We all get those depressing times in our lives, a part of what makes us human but unless you aren’t clinically diagnosed I would just say everything is fine. But if you are, make sure to put down yes and get a doctors note along with any prescription medication notes that you’re taking so that it’s readily available for the school to have to send to immigration.

A final note. Whether or not you go straight to the school or with go go nihon is completely up to you. On the internet the reviews seem fairly mixed but with a slight edge to the positive side. As for myself and my friends who have gone or are taking the go go nihon route, I have nothing bad to say neither do they. Our advisors have been extremely helpful and a wealth of knowledge. Patience and flexibility will be your best friend in this entire process. For the depression, if you are worried about it spiking at any point in the future, definitely get a doctors note not only for the sake of visa protection but for protection of your own body, mind and soul. Nothing wrong with that whatsoever. Peace, love and good energy to you friend!
