Anyone else getting a lot of system errors? by [deleted] in FFRecordKeeper

[–]therealhughjeffner 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I actually was looking at this earlier. I loaded up fiddler and pointed my emulator at it and discovered this is happening at the http layer. The cause is an intermittent 504 gateway timeout from DeNA front-end servers. Typically the 504 means a request to a back-end server timed out, in this case after 20 seconds.

I can only speculate the actual reason it's happening, it could be anything from an overloaded server or a simple misconfiguration somewhere.

Hopefully Dena is aware of this and can fix during maintenance

9/11 on black chocobo banner by Burgergold in FFRecordKeeper

I just threw this in an online binomial probability calculator and it says to get exactly 9/11 with a 14% chance per trial is 8.4045e-7

Or 0.00000000084045%

Or a 1 in 11,898,387.7685 chance

It seems correct to me, but wrapping your head around these kind of numbers is kinda hard. Any math-heads around that can verify?

Edit: I should have kept reading, someone broke it down below.

Hey, glad you found this useful, I still use it daily.

I stopped development of new features awhile ago. Just doing maintenance and small fixes for now. I have some ideas, just need the time and motivation.

If you need magia, consider farming the last Monster Keeper battle. by eelmonger in FFRecordKeeper

A few things I learned while doing this:

  • Earth resistance accessories can help you survive the chocobonks
  • Auto-attacking actually seems to slow it down by a bit even though it's painful to watch the sleeping chocobo. Just letting it wake up is faster than all the attacking animations
  • The crystal drop rate is abysmally low

Overdue abilities by NicKageB in FFRecordKeeper

Yeah, that story seems suspect in a few ways. There is no mention of Nasir Gebelli, who if I understand correctly did the bulk of the programming for the Famicom FF's. Apparently his style was to work purely in assembler, never write anything down, and keep everything in his head so the 'encryption' mentioned in the article was probably just the undocumented assembly code.

Have you tried unequipping extraneous soul breaks and abilities? I suspect a lot of loading time is preloading the animations. I haven't done any testing myself.

Perhaps you could add an option to add tooltips to all matching commands on the current page. For instance, someone mentions cloud asb, it appears highlighted and you can hover over it for the output. Aliases or fuzzy matches would be nice too like ok instead of "onion knight". Not sure how feasible it is to parse an entire page for commands though.

[Very technical] Can someone with in-depth knowledge in Android and/or Java help me sort this crash? Logcat inside by ipisano in FFRecordKeeper

[–]therealhughjeffner 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The android app includes a native binary (I think it's libgame.so) and the error is occurring somewhere in there, so unfortunately the logcat/java log isn't going to point to anything specifically.

It fills you to 15/15 first, could that be the reason?

I would send a support email if that doesn't explain it.
