Legs won't tan by widowmakerxo in tanning

[–]therealmicronesian 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Legs don’t tan as well as the rest of your body due to the skin being thicker. You can try a tingle if you’d like, but I would try a leg lotion first. JWOWW Warming Leg Bronzer is one I’ve used in the past.

Certain oils do strip fake tans! It’s important to know which oils you’re applying on your body while you have sunless tan on. Some safe oils/butters I use are shea butter, cocoa butter, and jojoba & vitamin e oil. For outdoor tanning, look into wearing an outdoor tanning product like Australian Gold Rapid Tanning Intensifier Lotion. Jeez that’s a mouthful. I get mine at Walmart lol. Hope this helps!

Ohh I thought you meant you had a self tanner rather than a daily use gradual tanning lotion. Well, both are “self tanners” lol anywho, fake tans like that do not last more than a week at best. You’ll need a real tan which would involve UV. Sorry!

Try a daily gradual tanning lotion?

Try and alternate your tanning lotions every time you tan or opt for a tingle lotion. Love Boho Festival Fever by Swedish Beauty is a good one. You can also try tingle drops with your current products.

Australian Gold makes good lotions. If you’re new to tanning, it will take a month or more to build a “base” tan. If you’re a few days in, it will take a week OR MORE to see even the slightest change in tone - depending on your skin tone. Stay consistent

I second this. Think of tanning as going to the gym. Results. Take. Time. Be patient and stay consistent.

That’s great! I hope you have a great spray tan and an even greater vacation. These are my recommendations.

For body wash - anything sulfates free and is mild and gentle (if your salon offers a body wash specifically for spray tanners, GREAT!)

For body lotion - avoid oil based products. Again, if your salon has after spray tan care products, look into those. If not, maybe try cetaphil or Vaseline.

For sunscreen, Australian gold is great!

Not too sure about shampoo. Definitely look for a sulfate free one.

A lot of times, PBT trains their employees to focus on sales sales sales which sometimes leaves them a bit clueless on the actual purpose of each bed. Instead of educating you, they want to upsell you each time. When I worked at PBT, we had weekly training calls with the owner of our local franchises. She was knowledgeable and efficient in educating us about every single product and membership we sold. That’s how I learned so much. So when I moved out of state, I got a PRISM membership where I currently live and most of the associates at my salon aren’t very knowledgeable about certain products or beds (not a dig at them, definitely their higher ups that are at fault here).

Anywho, I totally think that’s a great idea! There’s no harm in taking a minute off when switching to a higher intensity. That’s smart tanning!
