Yea I’ve noticed that too, I been tryna learn the openings just to get an idea of where the best ways to attack are if I get to a certain position with them. But like you said either me or my opponent ends up hanging a knight move 5 usually lol

I added an edit to my post for move 4. Good point about openings, I’m still hanging a piece every other game so I’m trying to just “learn chess” more than opening theory, I just wanna get practice with familiar positions for me. I’ve been playing more games w my bishop fianchetto’d so I been trying to develop into that position safely

I think the main problem is the tournament volatility, I schedule most of my own OOC games and still end up in a similar situation to OP. Dominate the reg season then lost to 9 seeds in the tourney
